Oh jeez… ::panic:: So many DIY projects to start, so little time!

Haha, no I actually feel pretty good about where we are, except for the fact that Fiance sprung on me that he’s having second thoughts on our venue. So that could prove to be disastrous. Or not.

I’m so excited! Only 8 months to go, my god!

Okay, I guess I’m actually in a really good place.. things seem to fall together once you get the day/venue (IMO).

I have the venue/date- they are also the caterers and thats where the ceremony AND reception will be (I do have to go for a tasting and also do the cake thing- included in the price but still ordered through separate bakery).

    -photographer- check!

    -DJ- check!

    -Dress- Check!

-BMs- Check! starting to work on their dresses in the next month.

    -Officiant- Family friend- Check!

    -Block hotels- check!

    – Just made a reservation for rehearsal dinner today because I am never down where I am getting married but I was today for something else and decided to get that done.

    -registered- check!

-STDs- all but a few are out.

so we are good but i am doing so much stuff myself that we HAVE to be!

Thanks for posting this!  I think we are in a pretty good place.  We just need to book the DJ (meeting with him in 2 weeks) and hotel rooms.  The fiance is almost done with the website, and my mom is coming up this month to help us register.  Woo-hoo!  I never look at these lists, so I’m impressed that we have most of the items under control.

We’ve been engaged since August 2008. So… we’re kind of ahead of the game. But right now I am VERY excited that things are starting up again. We booked stuff early on and then waited around for a while, and now I can focus on details, getting my bridesmaids up to speed and bmdress shopping, registering this month (I was totally planning to do that anyway!) I’m mailing Save-The-Date Cards on monday so people will get them around valentine’s day hype.

Of course, when I look at the knot’s checklist I pretty much want to vomit. But we still have 8 months. We’re in good shape ladies!

I feel I am pretty well on the spot with my planning. I started the wedding website a week or so ago but I am still filling things in and what not but I figure I have a little more time because I am still waiting for my STD’s to arrive in the mail. I will def have to make sure I get it done before I mail those out bc it is listed on there.

I have a hotel picked out for all the guests and we will also be hosting the reception there so I guess I can check the caterer off that list. I have not ordered my dress yet but I do have it narrowed down to 2 and will have that done before the middle of the month.

I still have yet to find the girls their Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses and ugh it still feels like I have a million little things I need to tend to

When I really think about it, I feel behind. Here’s where I am:

-Start a wedding folder or binder – Done
    -Work out your budget –
Done-ish. I need to adjust a couple of things
-Pick your wedding party – That was done the night I got engaged!
-Start the guest list – Anyone else dreading this?
-Hire a planner, if desired  – Uh..way too much of a control freak for that.
-Reserve your dates and venues – Done
-Book your officiant – I made an appointment with one!
-Research photographers, bands, florists, and caterers – Working on it, I have a couple of meetings set up.
-Throw an engagement party, if you want  – N/A

And here’s our “to do” for this month:

    -Hire the photographer and videographer
    -Book the entertainment
    -Meet caterers –
    -Purchase a dress
    – Done!
-Reserve a block of hotel rooms for out of town guests
    -Register
    -Launch a wedding website

I also have a ton of DIY projects to do..and keep thinking of more! I just added non-floral corsages to the list and if I can find a use for them, I would love to do the ribbon pomanders cranetobe (I think that’s her name) posted.

-Start a wedding folder or binder- done!
    -Work out your budget- done!
    -Pick your wedding party- done!
    -Start the guest list- done!
-Hire a planner, if desired- n/a
-Reserve your dates and venues– next week!
    -Book your officiant- not yet
-Research photographers, bands, florists, and caterers– done!
-Throw an engagement party, if you want- n/a

And here’s our “to do” for this month:

-Hire the photographer and videographer- done!
-Book the entertainment– nope. We found him, just haven’t booked yet.
    -Meet caterers- next week!
    -Purchase a dress- done!
-Reserve a block of hotel rooms for out of town guests– n/a. No Out of Town guests.
-Register– We’re supposes to do it this early?!
-Launch a wedding website– it’s started, but no where near finished.

I definitely feel good about where we are. I feel pretty ahead of the game, personally.

Me me me! I checked ‘spot on’ but I think I’m actually ahead of the game:

-Start a wedding folder or binder – I did this in Week 1, last July!
-Work out your budget – Done
-Pick your wedding party – Done
-Start the guest list – Started and finished, though it keeps growing as our friends get pregnant!
-Hire a planner, if desired – Not having one.
-Reserve your dates and venues – Done, for both church and reception
-Book your officiant – Done, and we’re chasing him this month.
-Research photographers, bands, florists, and caterers – Done (apart from caterers, as this is part of our reception package).
-Throw an engagement party, if you want – We decided not to, as it was a crazily busy few months after the engagement with other weddings, summer holidays, and what-not. We were going to have it at the lovely pub in which we first met, but it closed the week after got engaged.

And here’s our “to do” for this month:

-Hire the photographer and videographer – Photographer was done last September! We’re not having a videographer, I really don’t care for it.
-Book the entertainment – We’re talking to DJs now, not having a band though.
-Meet caterers – Not for us!
-Purchase a dress – Done! Another ‘last September’ job, that was a very productive month. My mother was visiting from Australia so it was lovely to find the right dress when she was here.
-Reserve a block of hotel rooms for out of town guests – Done
-Register – We’re not doing this til April, to make sure all the stock is up to date when the registry opens.
-Launch a wedding website – Done, though we’ll update it when we send the invitations in May/June.

I picked “freaking out” even though I think I’m ahead…or spot on at least, LOL. I think it’s because we’ve been engaged since March 2008 and did almost nothing for a year and a half that I’m so angsty. We have been reminded over and over again that many people who get engaged around now pull off a wedding in 8 months…a nice way of saying “stop freaking out” I guess!

-Start a wedding folder or binder of course
-Work out your budget We have worked out the basics
    -Pick your wedding party Yes
    -Start the guest list Done
-Hire a planner, if desired Not in the budget
-Reserve your dates and venues Done
    -Book your officiant Done
-Research photographers, bands, florists, and caterers Done
-Throw an engagement party, if you want skipped one

And here’s our “to do” for this month:

-Hire the photographer and videographer Done
-Book the entertainment NOT DONE YET (fiance’s job – think I can forward him this list??)
-Meet caterers Venue is owned by catering company, so done
    -Purchase a dress Done (yay!)
-Reserve a block of hotel rooms for out of town guests done
-Register not done…since we don’t live together yet, we’re kinda wondering what to do about this one…probably will spend a long time on Macy’s website on V-day weekend and e-register for some stuff we both like
-Launch a wedding website website is done, we just haven’t made it “public” yet πŸ™‚

Well at least I am on task. I think it’s the DIY stuff that’s got me on edge. Phew, I do feel a lot better now though. I like Real Simple’s list the best, I think! Good luck October 2010 ladies!

It looks like I am the only Oct bride that hasnt started planning yet. I am actually not to worried about it since our day will only consist of 50 people. I am waiting until most likely March to start planning full force. I honestly do better under pressure and have researched alot and Oct is rarely busy for the venues we are considering.

I think I might be just a touch ahead of the game! Last week was an insanely productive week.

-Start a wedding folder or binder – I have more Excel spreadsheets than any sane person. And also a binder. And a whole file folder on my computer. And way too many delicious bookmarks specifically for the wedding.
    -Work out your budget –
See Excel above. It’s incredibly detailed and I heart it.
    -Pick your wedding party –
    Finito!
    -Start the guest list –
    Started and finished.
-Hire a planner, if desired –
We aren’t having a planner or DOC. My venue comes with an on-site coordinator.
-Reserve your dates and venues –
    Done and done.
    -Book your officiant –
    Comes with our church πŸ™‚
-Research photographers, bands, florists, and caterers –
Researched and booked (well, florist is in the works).
-Throw an engagement party, if you want –
The Guy arranged for both our families to get together for a Thanksgiving meal the same weekend we got engaged. This was all we wanted for an engagement party.

And here’s our “to do” for this month:

-Hire the photographer and videographer – Done (we aren’t having a videographer, but are asking a family friend to capture some funny footage).
    -Book the entertainment –
We booked the DJ and photobooth this week.
    -Meet caterers –
Met with our venue coordinator last weekend.
    -Purchase a dress –
Yes! It should be in around May.
-Reserve a block of hotel rooms for out of town guests –
On my to do list for this week or next.
    -Register –
We need to make a trip out-of-town to the store at which we’ll be registering so that we can (hopefully) finally agree on a china pattern!
    -Launch a wedding website –
    Done.
