Where are you at in terms of your wedding planning right now?? 🙂 What have you done?? What do you need to do still?? I know it’s 6 months away but sometimes I feel like I’m planning too soon and other days I feel like I don’t have enough time hahaha.
I have the venue picked, the dress picked and paid for, colors chosen, food chosen but not tasted, I’m starting on centerpiece ideas, we’ve set the date, had our engagement pictures, I’ve sent out save the dates, and we know where our honeymoon will be.
II am panicking! I feel like I have nothing done, even though I just got engaged in feb. there’s still so much to do!

@Equine_Breeder: You are WAY ahead of me!! and I’ve been engaged since Sept. lol I just started on the invites and my guest list isn’t even completed!! I’ve been trying to look for a venue but every time I find one there’s either something I don’t like or something they don’t allow. I know my colors, I know where I want my reception and I know how I want to decorate and stuff. I’m also in the process of finding where to get my dress made (I’m planning on getting a replica dress from china I believe). Now I feel like I’m way behind hahaha 🙂

It will be easier for me to say what I don’t have done lol. I planned very early (started in July 2012) so I managed to book everything far in advance.
What I still need to do:
Dress alterations (won’t be until August)
Florist appointment (design centerpieces and anything flower related)
Food tasting (will be done around July/August)
Order tuxedos (he’s procrastinating; I need to kick his butt lol)
Order invitations (I have them picked out just need to purchase)
I believe that’s it 🙂
oh and we still need a cake haha ooops!
I think we’ve hit the point in our planning where it’s easier to say what’s left to do rather than what we’ve done! So that’s exciting 🙂
Still have to:
- Pick the menu (we’ve had a tasting already, just have to decide what we’re having!)
- Book a calligrapher
- Book transportation
- Buy FIs wedding band (maybe this weekend?)
- Decide on floral arrangements
- Book hair & makeup artists (I’m pretty sure I know who I want to use, just have to call and make it official)
- Purchase my veil, shoes and accessories
- Decide on first dance song & other music selections
- Write our vows
- Pick out tuxes
- Work on programs
- Assemble welcome bags
I guess there are more things that I haven’t listed but they’re minor things. This is the bulk of what there is left to do. I’m feeling good, like I’m right on pace. We shall see!
- venue – ceremony + reception (friend’s woods)
- colors and many elements of decor/lighting
- dress measurements with intended bra
- some of the table linens bought (they are going to be all different within a color story)
- something blue (it’s also old and borrowed!! does it count if it’s nearly all in one?)
Things we haven’t done:
- dress chosen but not bought
- booked night-of newlywed lodging
- chosen bridesmaid + groomsmen attire (won’t necessarily be uniform)
- asked parents of flower girls/ringbearer/other participating children
- made wedding slippers
- chosen wedding bands
- partially completed designing of invitations
- decided exactly what we want the ceremony to be like
- settled 100% on the time of day
- still debating food, probably DIY hors d’oeurves
- bought the biodegradable tableware
- music partially completed
Things we are leaving out:
- paper save-the-dates (will be emailed)
- DJ or band (just one fabulous playlist)
- garter (and throwing of the bouquet)
- tent (too expensive for our tiny budget… yeah pretty worried about that one!)
Almost done! It’s easier to list what we have left to do!
- Book hair and makeup
- Purchase linens
- Order tuxes
- Nail down rehearsal dinner plans
- Print invitations
- Decide on uplighting
I’m sure there are small things I’m forgetting, but I’ll figure them out! 5 more months ladies!
Yayyy!! 5 MORE MONTHS!! I can’t believe how fast it’s going. Does it seem like it’s flying to you guys?? This is where I’m at currently with my planning (took a break for like a week because I was getting overwhelmed lol.)
Venue: In the process of reserving (reception is at FI’s parents house.)
Dress: Found the one but gave myself some time in case my mind changed but it didnt. So I just emailed the place today about a quote (going the jasmine’s bridal route!)
Invites: FINALLY settled on a design. I DIYed one and changed my mind, so I made another kind and love it even more! Orded all the stuff I need from cardsandpockets.com yesterday and it should be here in about a week! CAN’T WAIT TO START MAKING THEM!!
Officiant: Family friend.
What I have left to do:
Chairs and tables: (have a place, calling tomorrow.)
Flowers: Trying to decide if I want to DIY a real touch bouquet for me. And put something else together for Maid/Matron of Honor, Bridesmaid or Best Man, AND Fiance.
Decorations: Still have to buy my arch. But I’m SLOWLY buying things to decorate with from ebay and amazon and stuff 🙂 So it’s all slowly coming together!
Cake: Ugh, I’ve been looking everywhere for a nice but CHEAP cake. I looked at Sam’s Club and Costco but I think they only do sheet cake. I would like a small (feed about 40 ppl) 2 tier cake!
We’re almost there guys!! Sounds like we all are going at about the same pace here.
Oh yes and my photographer is someone I know also.
Still need to do Tuxes also, Maid/Matron of Honor dress, and my veil!!
@withsilverbells: I’m doing RSVP’s by e-mail
@rachels7683: A taco bar sounds so yummy!! I’m also trying to figure out what food to have at the reception. We wanted steak and chicken but with our tiny budget, that’s probably NOT an option now lol. I was thinking finger foods like sandwhiches and what not. The taco bar gave me some inspiration, thank you 🙂
@misschickpea: Where are you getting your flowers from for DIY?? Are they going to be real?? I want to DIY mine, was thinking real touch, but if I can DIY with real ones I’d totally do it for a good price
Post # 15
@FutureMrsPitch: i am actually a wedding planner/designer part time and have access to a fabulous wholesale florist here in my hometown!
@FutureMrsPitch: Ooh yay we’re doing email RSVP too!! It sounds like you’ve probably done this if you’ve been to Sam’s but did you try a regular grocery store like Publix? They def. have pretty cakes but… yeah still pretty expensive.
I too could not find an inexpensive cake option, so I bought tiny (5″) pie pans and we are going to start making crusts ahead and freezing them so that day-of we can plop a big spoonful of filling (made the day before, 2 or 3 types, not to be heated) into each one and make like a million little pies. Hopefully. Don’t know how to transport them yet. And for the record, I kind of wish I’d gotten itty bitty pie pans instead (like bite-sized, think tiny quiche).
Also, some cities have a flower market, flowers are sometimes sold at farmer’s markets, and I believe you can get flowers sometimes from a place like Sam’s? I wonder if a grocery store would order certain flowers for you and it would still be less expensive because you are doing the design?
