@Miss Grey:  That’s great you found a daycare you feel comfortable with! I haven’t even looked into it yet, it gives me anxiety! I’m hoping my parents will just be able to watch her.

@Miss Grey:  Yay for finding a daycare! I’m still on a waiting list at 6 places. I’m going to check back in with them once baby is here. I’m having 4 months maternity leave, so hopefully one will come through in that time!!

@MrsDPal811:  Glad everything is going well for you and that your LO will hold out until October!

@hirsche:  I’m with you on the cervical checks. I opted out today at my appointment. I have 0 signs of labor also, so I think knowing that I’m 0 cm dialated will frustrate me even more. I’d rather just try to relax and let nature take its course

@amw511s:  Fingers crossed you progresed at this appointment!

@BrookieCookie9:  Thanks for updating everyone here!

I’m sorry everyone for my extended absence.  With the move, I found logging on to my computer just to be a pain.  And now that our little one is here, this is the first time my computer has been on…

But I did give birth on Friday the 13th to a little boy, Ryan James!  I have actually always thought a Friday the 13th birthday is lucky because my grandma was born on a Friday the 13th.  He weighed 7lbs 2 ounces.  I was 37 weeks and 4 days on his birthday.  We are all doing as well as can be expected.  Breast feeding has been going great so far, but holy cow am I in some pain.  Labor was also pretty fast for me.  I lost my mucus plug at about 3:30 am, or that’s when I got up to go to the bathroom and noticed that I lost it.  I started having consistent contractions around 6-7ish am that were about 13 minutes apart.  He was born at 5:22 pm.  And here are a few pics!

@paw:  Congrats Mama! I’m so excited about our first October baby bee (even though he jumped the line into September). Sounds like your labor was about as good as it can get! Lets hope for many more similar announcements in the near future!!

Hey everyone! I’ve been MIA for quite a while. I’ve been on the FB group, bc I mostly use my phone and FB is much easier to navigate/post on than the bee while on my phone.

Anyway, I’m currently 37w2d and my due date is in only 19 days! Eeek! I’ve been having contractions every day for weeks now, but when they checked me for preterm labor at 33 weeks, I had not dilated yet. I got checked because I had contractions consistently 20 minutes apart, then 10 minutes apart for several hours on end. I’m so glad it wasn’t preterm labor, but when they checked my cervix, they said it was “irritated” and that they thought I’d start seeing some changes in that regard in the next few weeks. I haven’t been checked since, so I have no idea if I’ve progressed at all since then. At my last appt (36w), I measured a whopping 40 weeks, so my midwife ordered a growth scan ultrasound, just to see what was going on. My hospital is pretty naturally minded and wouldn’t talk induction or a c-section unless they were certain the baby would be 11lbs or more, and even then, it would be my decision. We had the ultrasound on Tuesday and found out that our little girl is roughly 7lbs 9oz already! Depending on how late she stays in, she could potentially get close to the 9lb range. Little chunker! haha She has most of her weight in her chubby little belly and cheeks. She also looks like she has my nose, mouth and chin. She spent most of the ultrasound puckering her lips like a kissy face (so cute), sticking out her tongue and chomping on her hands and arms. It was adorable to see! Our hospital typically only does one ultrasound at 20 weeks (the anatomy scan), so this was an unexpected surprise to be able to see her again. Her eyes were open and that was probably the only creeppy looking thing, since it was 2D. She measured in the 71st percentile for weight and also measured 4 days ahead for overall growth, so not too far off track. I’m so excited and anxious to meet her already!

Darling Husband and I went to work on deep cleaning, purging and reorganizing our house last weekend and have gotten about halfway done. We plan to finish the rest this weekend, so after that, she’s welcome to come at any time. We’ve started putting together her baby things, too. Stroller, swing, bouncer, jumperoo and when we finish our bedroom, we’ll set up her pack-n-play, since she’ll be sleeping in that in our room for quite a while. My hospital bag and Charlee’s bag (her full name will be Charlotte Grace, but I just love the nickname Charlee) are fully packed and we will be installing the carseat base this weekend. It’s crazy how soon she will be born! 😀

Anyway, that’s pretty much my update for now. I start weekly appointments next Tuesday (38w1d) through 40w2d (although, hopefully I won’t go that long lol) and I think the only cervical check I’ll be getting will be at week 39.

Can’t wait to see more of these October babies being born soon!

ETA: Oh and I’ve been drinking 2 cups of Earth Mama Angel Baby 3rd Trimester Tea each day and today I start taking Evening Primrose Oil orally and vaginally to help “ripen” things. I also plan to use the EPO to do perineal massages, bc I’ve heard it really improves the elasticity of that sensitive skin and keeps you from tearing badly while in labor, if you do it beforehand. I am bouncing and swaying on my birthing ball and walking every night with Darling Husband and our dogs to also help get things going. Not trying to rush her, but just trying to prepare my body as much as possible, in hopes that it helps me have a smoother, quicker labor.

@paw:  Congratulations on your healthy little boy! Glad that everyone’s doing well. Also, I seriously hope I look as good as you do after labour.

I’m excited to see the October babies getting here! 😀

I’ve also been drinking raspberry leaf tea like crazydogmom, and I’m going to start the evening primrose oil once I hit 36 weeks on Monday. I feel like it’s all coming so fast now that we’re down to the last few weeks.

I was up all last night and had some cramping that came and went. Nothing too painful, just uncomfortable and annoying. I felt better in the morning when I got up to shower and now I’m sitting at work just like every other day, except my motivation is non-existant.

Is anyone experiencing real contractions and still going to work? I don’t know if I’d actually be able to sit here if I was feeling the real thing. But if they’re irregular or come and go, I’m not sure I want to take time off just to sit at home and wait either.

What are you ladies planning on doing?

@ExcitedScaredBee:  I’m planning to keep working until I absolutely have to stop. I don’t want to waste any time at home before baby gets here if I could spend it with him/her after he/she arrives. Although I’m supply teaching, so I have the benefit of being able to turn down a day if I feel really crappy. It’s probably different with a more steady job.

I plan to work until the baby arrives but i have lost all motivation. Which is really bad because our fiscal year ends Sept 30, so we are super busy… I just dont want to do anything.

I started EPO last night and RRTea this morning. i have had NO signs of labor or anything so I figure I need to start preparing my body for what is to come. I am 37weeks today but feel like it will be forever until I give birth.

I am somewhat jealous of the peeps who doctors have given then an induction date. I just hate this feeling of thinking “ok I could go today or not go for 4+ more weeks…”

So ever since my anatomy scan at 19 weeks, Darling Husband has been convinced we were having a boy (even though we’re team green). He said the ultrasound profile pic “looked like him”, which I thought was adorable. Everyone esle is on the Boy bandwagon. My mom and Mother-In-Law, the other Drs in my OB’s practice, the greeter at Costco, EVERYONE!

Well, Darling Husband told me yesterday that he had a dream the night before that he was dancing in our family room and holding our daughter. 1) He never remembers dreams and 2) it’s his first ever inclination that we might not be having a boy.

I don’t know why, but this made me so excited! I kinda have felt like our surprise has been tarnished a bit because everyone is assuming its a boy. DH’s dream put a little spark back in the idea that it is still 50/50, anyone’s guess!

How was everyone’s weekend? Any more October babies born over in Facebookland?

@ExcitedScaredBee:  No more babies on the Facebook board, but there are definitely quite a few of us that are ready for them to start popping out!  I’m 39w3days today and would be more than happy if this little girl decided to show up, but I’m highly doubtful!

@calgarymommy2b:  I understand! You would not believe the number of people at my office who have peaked into my cube and then given the disappointed “oh, you’re still here” look.

Sorry I’m still pregnant! This baby seems totally comfortable, so count on me being here for a while longer!!!

@ExcitedScaredBee: We are Team Green too and most of the family also believes its a Boy. I have no clue and Darling Husband isn’t going one way or the other. This weekend we were with some family though, and it was crazy how SURE everyone is that its a Boy! Its not a 100% concensus…but the girl guesses are few and far between. Can’t wait to see whats baking!!

I love that your Darling Husband had that dream and remembered it =)
