My due date was Oct 18th, the week prior I had been loosing my mucus plug, and the week before my due date I was checked by my Dr and was 1cm and 80%.
I went to the doctor on the 18th (our due date) and she checked me I was 2-3cm and 80%, she also stripped/swept my membranes around noon, it wasn’t painful just weird! Lol
i went home and Darling Husband and I worked on our puzzle, ate lunch and took a nap around 2pm. We woke up and I was cramping, by the time 5pm rolled around I was having major period like cramping and just felt uncomfortable.
By 7pm I was having timeable contractions that felt just like period cramps. What blew my mind was that inbetween contractions I felt amazing! Lol no pain or pressure or anything! I spent about an hour in the tub waiting for my contractions to become evenly spaced and last more then 45seconds! So I started walking… But they would still jump from 7mins apart to 3mins apart and last roughly 45seconds.
I called labor and delivery, they told me to wait until they were lasting a full 60seconds.. The entire time my sweet husband is freaking out!! Lol he’s running around behind me trying to help and telling me to get dressed and get in the car so he could take me to the hospital.. But I was being stubborn and didn’t want to go in and just be sent home!!
Finally I wasn’t able to walk through the contractions and couldn’t talk they hurt so bad! They still weren’t regular or A min apart.. But it was getting more painful so at 10pm we went in.
It was a full moon and once in triage at the hospital we learned I was 4-5cm and they had no delivery rooms avaliable!!!! Ahhhhh!!!! Lol i was so upset, we spent about 2 hours in triage waiting for a room… And I couldn’t have any pain meds without being in a room.. I was dying!!! The pain felt like worst period cramps mixed with a knife in my vagina.
By the time we got a room it was late, no idea what time! I was 7cm and they got my iv started then gave me iv pain meds… It was heaven!!! I felt human, I could feel the contractions but they were so much better!
I got my epidural, finally!! And tried to sleep. I couldn’t feel anything contraction wise, but I was so uncomfortable in the hospital bed, but I finally got a little 1hr nap.
When I woke up my nurse checked me and my water broke, and she told me it was time to start pushing… But I was so numb I couldn’t feel when to push!! So they lowered my epidural dose and my legs were finally able to move with out two nurses helping me!! Lol I felt a little pressure in my bottom.. But no pain or discomfort! I pushed for maybe 5 mins and my beautiful baby was here!!!
Born 11:33am October 19th, one day after her due date ๐ 7lb 11 ounces and 20 inches!
She was perfect! I got my skin to skin time and she nursed and I fell head over heels in love!!
As soon as I saw her the discomfort of the contractions were worth it! Because i was able to labor and progress slowly and push once she was mostly through the birth canal I had a very very minor tear, I needed only one stitch!
She has been breast feeding like a champ, after a visit to the lactation consultant for cracked nipples! Deep latch folks… That’s the trick!! And in 9days has gained 6ounces and 1/2inch!!!!
Thank you for reading!
