We’re getting married at the beginning of November and we’re delaying our honeymoon. We live in a city with a horrible long winter so we’re going in January/February instead so that it can break up the winter and we can have something to look forward not. Also, Christmas is not that far away after the wedding so it’ll just be an exciting few months! We’re also going to Hawaii.
Hawaii should be fine in October though if the only thing stopping you from going right away is weather.

We’re going to Italy and Turkey and we’re leaving on the Saturday after we get married (getting married on a Thursday). Honestly I think of it like you do – we wanted to do it right away so we don’t lose that newlywed buzz. We travel a lot and often on trips just like the one we’re taking for our honeymoon so I know that if we were to wait it would end up just seeming like any other vacation that we take.

We got married October 21, 2012. We just came back from our honeymoon last week! So we waited 7 months! Partly because we couldnt figure out where we wanted to go, and we wanted to spread it out a little to really enjoy our honeymoon and planning it without all of the pre-wedding stress. I’m so happy we waited to go, it worked out great for us 🙂

Do you have overnight plans immediately after the wedding?

Thanks bees! Your comments are really helpful! Lots to think about. We are spending the night where we are getting married actually. Its on a massive farm that has accommodations on site for anyone that wants to stay, we have the honeymoon cabin, it’s not huge but the party continues on into the morning with a big breakfast spread for everyone too.

@TraLo: We got married in Hawaii (Lanai) in October and it was awesome! The weather was perfect. We spent a week there and then flew to Fiji for another week, and it was great there, too. It rained a tiny bit in Fiji, but when it rains like that in tropical places it’s rarely all day, usually just brief showers in the afternoon or morning. We still had tons of sun!

Getting married October 5th, my future hubby and I will be leaving for Vegas for the week the monday after our wedding and coming back Friday. That is our mini moon. Since we live in the midwest, we love to do the tropical thing when it is cold here, so we will go somewhere sometime in December for the extended moon.

I’m going to the Cook Islands with my new hubby 2 days after the wedding for 2 weeks !! We live in Australia and the Pacific is very accessible for us. I’ve been to Vanuatu and New Caledonia before but really looking forward to staying on the Cook Is.
One of my best friends is American and is flying from Houston for our wedding, so hubby, myself and girlfriend and driving from our country wedding the next day to Melbourne (500km) so we can all get our flights out of the country. It will give us a chance to show my American girlfriend some of the countryside on a fun road trip 🙂

We honeymooned on Kauai and Oahu 2 days after our wedding and it was fantastic. The weather was beautiful, maybe an hour of rain per day, which is actually normal for Kauai throught the year. The best part, it’s not peak travel time, school was back in session so the entire island was pretty much locals, retirees, and newlyweds. Helps a lot with traffic, space on the beaches, and getting into restaurants without a huge wait. Loved it and would totally go back in October 🙂
