My sister was an October bride and went to Jamaica – it rained alot!  They did aruba in October for their 1 year anniversary and loved it.  They had a great time and the weather was beautiful.  I definitely suggest springing for travel insurance if you’re going in October though!

We’re getting married in June but honeymooning in October. We’re going to Europe and taking the Orient Express between  a few cities. It’s a good time to go because most of the summer American tourist horde has fled.

@Happy_luv:  My Fiance and I are both retiring and we decided that we will spend a month going to Paris, Italy, England, and we are going to Ireland. We thought it will take about a month but now that I just type that it might be longer because we have no reason to rush back to the US.

We both wanted to go to Paris because of the historical churches and the delicious foods we want to try. We have to postpone the wedding right now but I am looking forward to the honeymoon and am more disappointment about putting off our trip.

He is still in Afghainstan right now so everything is on hold. I think the decision to go to Aruba or Hawaii is a good one considering hurricane season in Carribean would be a total downer

I gave my Fiance parameters (beach, outside of US, place I’ve never been) and told him to surprise me!  He just booked it, but the location will be revealed on our wedding day!  I know that October is within hurricane season, but a) we have travel insurance and b) at least we’ll be together. πŸ™‚

Fi and I decided are renting a log cabin in the blue ridge mountains for a week. Super excited to spend a week surrounded by all of that beauty and bring my dog. What could be better than a warm  secluded cabin a fireplace and a hot tub all to ourselves with no one to bother us unless we go out πŸ™‚

I can’t decide.

I don’t want to settle on somewhere close just to drive there…I just wish I didn’t have a fear of flying

We are putting our honeymoon off for that reason…. just not the best time to go to many spots.

Plus going in the new year definitely helps with the vacation time – now we can take a long honeymoon for 2 wks but not end up with no time at all this year

@Happy_luv:  Hawai’i would be a more-or-less hurricane safe place, but it is expensive.  Aruba, Bonaire, and Curacao are below the hurricane belt.  In regards to the Caribbean during rainy season, I’ve been to the Caribbean in May, July, and January.  So far, so good.  There’s usually a “rainy side” of the island or a “rainy time” of day, but its pretty unlikely that the whole island would be rainy the whole time you are there unless, of course, there was a hurricane.  If you have never cruised before or have cruised and really like it, a cruise is a great option when you are traveling during hurricane season.  They will avoid hurricanes and go to a different island.  So, if you have your heart set on a Caribbean honeymoon and need to have perfect weather, I’d suggest the ABC islands or a cruise.  Hope this helps!
