I didn’t send save-the-dates at all, but I don’t think people typically send them less than 6 months ahead of time. I think all you really need are the actual invitations at this point!

@pineapplelove:  HORAY I’m not alone! and I second the 6mos thing.

We’re not sending STD’s out… 6-7month engagement and we spread the date via word of mouth. The important people will be there. We’re also not doing engagement photos. I guess I’m just wierd in not wanting to spend money on either of those things!

Edit: I guess what I was trying to say is that if you are that concerned… just make sure that your most important out of state people know about it before the 4month mark.

@Woodstock:  me too 🙂 8 month engagement. Just didn’t feel the need. I also have only ever received a save-the-date for one wedding before, but any time it’s been out of town i’ve known to save the date just by word of mouth, or if the couple has contacted me a few months ahead with hotel information

We’re only 5 months out and ours literally went out 2 hours ago.  We weren’t going to do them, but we got a bunch of Vistaprint Groupons that had to be used up.

We are actually just starting to send ours out — the first batch went out in the mail the other day.

Just ordered mine today.  I am only sending them out because my wedding is on a Sunday and I have a good amount of Out of Town guest and some keep asking is it a Saturday or Sunday.  I did a magnest so they can stick on the fridge so they can see the date.

I am not sending them. I really don’t think that they are necessary unless you are getting married on a holiday weekend. I think that they are just an unnecessary expense.

I didn’t send any. I think  most people send them out around 5-6months ahead of time though. A friend that’s getting married in June sent hers out in January.

We sent ours out Last October, but we have people flying in from South Africa and New Zealand so had to get them out early, sent others to those out of town, and in the process of sending our actual Invites this week, as the wedding is on a Friday we need to give plenty of notice so that people can book it off 😀

We sent them, but now I don’t think it was actually worth the bother as everyone will be starting to get their invites from next month

We emailed Pingg.com STDs! They were so easy, and its fun being able to see who’s opening them. Plus, we upgraded tp “Plus” and the whole shebang was $10. I’m so happy with them. (we also ordered VP postcard Save-The-Date Cards for grandparents, family, etc).
