We are all over the place on where we want to honeymoon! October is a tricky month what with hurricanes and all….
Friends of ours went to St. Lucia Sandals in early September last year and did not run into any hurrican trouble.
Any help on whether St. Lucia, Hawaii, or Barcelona is the best honeymoon choice for an October wedding?!

It depends on what kind of vibe you want your honeymoon to have.
I’ve never been to St. Lucia. But I’ve been to Barcelona and Maui.
I love the beach and there were a few sights to see while in Maui but honestly, towards the end…I was ready to go home. There’s only so much relaxing, hiking, etc I can do.
Barcelona (and Spain in general) is AWESOME and so exciting. I may be a bit biased because my mom is from Spain and I’ve been there many times. But I would go back a million more!!
There is so much to do and see. I’m not sure what the weather is like there in October though. If it’s still warm you’d still get to do some beach days. And if you’re up for train travel, you can easily get around to see some other cities.

The great thing about Hawaii is the climate is fabulous year round. You can’t go wrong there any time of year.

I’ve been to Barcelona in October and the weather was beautiful. Warm but not too hot. I wore jeans, flip flops and a tank tops most days.

st. lucia would be a crapshoot in october, because there’s always the possibility of hurricane activity. your friends were lucky when they went in september, because you can’t predict hurricanes. would you be okay with the risk?

My vote is always for Hawaii! ..for all of the same reasons others have mentioned 🙂 The weather is always perfect and it’s just a special place. I’m a little biased, though, because we plan on going back there for our honeymoon when that time rolls around. If you get bored with the relaxation and nature stuff, just island hop over to Oahu and immerse yourself in the touristy things and hang out in downtown Waikiki.

Just because a set of friends didn’t run into hurricanes doesn’t mean you won’t – it’s an all or nothing thing, and is not predictable that far in advance. You’re vacation is either completely ruined, or untouched. I don’t like those odds for a honeymoon. Go somewhere else that isn’t in the hurricane zone. One data point does not a statistic make.

Well, Barcelona, Hawaii and St Lucia are totally different experiences. I would go to Barcelona. St Lucia is easy enough to get to-you could really go about any time. There are so many fun things to do in Barcelona. The food, the culture, the wine, the tapas bars-you’d really have to work at it to get bored. There’s bicycle tours, gps guided gocart tours, wine tasting tours. It would be a really memorable trip.
