I agree with @mefitta09:  about Burlington VT. I LOVED it there!

If you want nightlife, go to Boston.  Spend a night somewhere in New Husband if you want a change of scenery, but it’s a much different feeling.

We went to Portsmouth and Portland for our honeymoon which was awesome, but we weren’t looking for big nightlife.

What about Lake Placid? It would be so beautiful at that time of year.  While there isn’t a nightlife that is like clubbing, there are a bunch of restaurants/bars (I love the brewery) and I bet you could go out and have a great time.  Have fun, wherever you decide 🙂

I agree with PPs… Boston and Burlington are both great options.  Boston will definitely have more going on, but Burlington has enough and a different vibe.  Keep in mind that although bars in Boston close at 2, the T stopped running around midnight last time I checked.  Cabs are not a bad option though, and the earlier-than-NYC nights are worth it.

Def check out different places in the Hudson Valley (about an hour from NYC). Apple picking, hayrides, haunted hayrides, hikes, river walks. The hudson valley is GORGEOUS. We are getting married in Wallkill in October. The mountains and the leaves will be spectacular.

There is a boutique hotel in Stamford CT called Hotel Zero Degrees. It is very affordable and clean. Stamford has a great night life and Norwalk is right around the corner with a ton of bars and restaurants and an aquarium!
