I think you’ve got a lot of great options, and your budget is very reasonable. Yes Costa Rica and Belieze tend to be a little more rainy that time of year. But what about Aruba, Riviera Maya, Antigua, or St Lucia?

If you look at the weather forcast for any tropical destination, it will call for rain every day. And you typically do see a pop up shower every afternoon. It’s imporant to look at the average monthly accumulation rather than the daily forcast.

We’ve gone to Riviera Maya in October and only had rain in the early mornings.  It was always over by the time we were ready to get up for breakfast.  We could have gotten lucky that there was no rain, but my parents have gone around that time also (late Sept/early Oct for their anniversary) and they have never had rain either.  The only thing I’ve noticed is there seem to be more mosquitos at night, but thats nothing a little bug spray can’t fix!  We usually stay at Excellence Riviera Cancun and it normally runs about $3200 for 6 nights (total for both of us).  We love this resort and have been there 3 times.  We were actually just there from May 5 – 11 and its still wonderful!  Hope this helps a little!

@TwoStatesBride:  Date twin! I’m also going on my honeymoon in October – not sure where, but possibilities include Madagascar, Greek islands, Argentina, Thailand, Vietnam, or somewhere in the pacific (Aitutaki, Samoa, New Caledonia, Fiji).  There is also Australia and New Zealand, but if you’re coming from US that would probably be expensive.

We are going to Aruba.  We’re not doing all-inclusive and it’s only $1200 a person for 8 nights at the Westin and airfare from Vegas.  We decided on Aruba since it’s hurricane season for most of the caribbean and I have bad luck!  We were told to look into Barbados or Aruba because they are too far west for hurricanes!  Aruba looks gorgeous, we’re so excited to go!!!

@rlaura76: My brother and sister-in-law honeymooned in Aruba in late October several years ago, and they had great weather (during a rough hurricane season in the rest of the Caribbean).  Enjoy!

I definitely recommend Bonaire over Aruba, especially if you’re going to dive. It’s way less overrun with tourists. There are also lots of amazing restaurants on the island. I’m not sure if there are any all-inclusive resorts, but, IMO, it’s way better to be able to explore and eat at different restaurants.
