I have my Egg retrieval today for a second try at IVF. My ultrasounds have only shown about 6 follicles growing and only 4 of those look the right size, so I’m really worried it will fail again. Fingers crossed 🤞🏻

anev :  Thank you! no we are going to do a frozen transfer with PGS testing. I’m 39 almost 40, I had a natural pregnancy earlier this year that ended in miscarriage, we did testing on the products of conception and it was trisomy 14. I figure FET is the way to go for me.

anev :  yeah I was expecting the injection to hurt in the muscle area going in but it didn’t and I don’t think the numbing agent penetrated that deeply. It’s about 14 hours since the shot now and starting to get some muscle soreness. I might go to the gym ans see if that helps things a bit.

tranceparentssee :  you’ve got this! My second ER went a lot better than my first. It’s possible they will get more than they see. And even with my third ER which yielded the lowest amount of eggs for me I had the best embryo results. You just never know!

Hey guys! Im just waiting for my period to start so I can get going with the FET. Question- have any of you done an FET WITHOUT BCP pills first to downreg? My nurse mentioned I might not even need to do that first, it depends on scheduling. My old clinic in boston always did BCP first so this is new to me. If so, what was the timeline like? You get your period and then you do a transfer basically a 2.5 weeks later?

EmmeW :  I didn’t do bcp! I actually transferred on cd15, which I think is a little earlier than usual, but my lining was 11 by cd7 so they planned it for the following week. I actually ovulated on cd 10/11 (even though I really shouldn’t have on the estrace), so the timing worked out perfectly.

EmmeW :  no bcp for me just did Estrace (estrogen) and PIO shots. FET is CD19 for me. I guess that gives me a chance to ovulate naturally and produce my own progesterone in addition to the shots.

I’ve done two PIO shots. The first one is a little sore to the touch but nothing major. The second one though is SO painful and has me limping. Do you think I messed up the first one and didn’t actually hit the glute muscle? I know that was the most important one cause it starts the 120 clock.

anev :  So annoying they make you wait that long. You had your ER a week or two before mine!

goldenbrown :  you actually shouldn’t ovulate on the estrace. I think it’s only like 5% of women do. They give you the progesterone to replace the hormones you would have made so that you don’t need to do it on your own.

anev :  yep, a natural cycle does require you to ovulate l, usually with the aid of a trigger shot though so things are timed just right. Sorry your protocol takes so long, that stinks!

LAZB :  ah didn’t realize that. I think might have ovulated though or at least geared up for it as I had a lot of CM over the past few days.
