It is SOOO unlike me, but I took a chance and decided to go for the outdoor wedding. I literally worry about everything, so I know when the my Wedding week comes along I will be stalking the weather channel, and I will probably shed some tears if I find out rain is coming 🙁 I dont’ know if I should admit this, but I have even researched weather patterns in October.
I have a backup, but it just wont be as nice as the outdoor ceremony. Anyone else in the same boat? Any advice to calm my nerves?

My Future Sister-In-Law had an outdoor October wedding this last year….(10/10/10) It did happen to rain that day, but even standing out in the light rain it was such a beautiful wedding…The rain actually made it very romantic!!! The kiss in the rain was such a romantic moment! lol…Not sure if this helps calm your nerves but come rain or shine just know your wedding will be beautiful! 🙂

I’m in the exact same boat. Our ceremony is outside overlooking the lake in early October in the Adirondacks. The weather is very unpredictable. The week of our wedding this year (does that make sense?), I swear it was like a typhoon but when Friday rolled around, the weather couldn’t have been more perfect.
We can’t control the weather so I’m not going to stress over it. If it does rain, our ceremony will be moved into our cocktail hour space so atleast we do have a decent back-up plan.

@FallBride100111: awesome wedding date!! 😉 i am also having an outdoor ceremony. this past year on oct 1, it had been freakishly warm and then there was a tropical storm that caused crazy wind and rain. the likelihood of that two years in a row, slim! i’m not sure where your located, but that’s what happened here in MA. i guess also trying to embrace that fact that i have no control over it, it is out of my hands! other than having a back up plan, there’s nothing you can do. i’ve seen a lot of fabulous pictures of rainy wedding days. so if it rains, dance in the rain! it will make for beautiful pictures=)

I got married in October of last year, and had a rain backup (that I was really not excited about). I signed up for weather.com’s event planner…starting 10 days out from your wedding they email you the forecast, and the chances that you should start thinking about your backup.
Try not to stress about it…there isn’t a thing you can do to prevent/change weather. It’s out of your hands. All you can do is hope for the best (and prepare for the worst).
We were lucky, and had perfect weather for our outdoor ceremony…but even if it had rained, at the end of the day he was still my husband, which was the really important part.

Thanks for the helpful responses so far everyone! I am in Wisconsin, and the weather is really unpredictable! Oct 1st 2010 was AMAZING!! It was so warm for the majority of Oct this past year. Let’s just hope it is the same this year!!
I know the weather is out of my control and I try to be relaxed and easy going about it- but, it’s the whole worry-wart thing. I swear it is a disease or something, i just can’t control it.

Yay October 1st WI brides! I’m also getting married outside, I’m a little worried… but I’ve done some research…. like… going back 10 years and it hasn’t rained on October 1st in a while… sooooo history’s on our side? It was crazy windy here last year here.. but we’re hoping for the best. I know I’m going to be mental the week before worrying about the weather, but I suppose you can’t change it. BUMMER.
Sidenote: If someone has a machine that controls the weather stashed somewhere, I’d really like to put in a request for no more snow.

I’m an Oct. 1st bride too! Cross your fingers! My ceremony is also outside. Whatever happens we’ll make the best of it!

I’m October 1st outdoor bride in Indiana, and I’ve got my fingers crossed for no rain that day or the week leading up to it! The weather in Indiana is so topsy turvy sometimes. It might be 70F, sunny and beautiful that day, or it might be 50F, rainy, and disgusting…or maybe some mixture of the two!
Do you have a rain plan, just in case?

Mine is outdoors for the most part, but I’m not worried. Texas Octobers don’t have too much rain, and while challenging, we can handle it if rain were to come.

I’m October 29th and outdoors. I try not to think too much about it considering I really dislike my backup – and I really paid so much money just to have my ceremony outdoors – but if I start stressing now – I’d lose my mind!

the more you worry about it the more of a chance it will rain!!! i remember looking at the weather a year out and it said it was suppose to rain…and to my suprise it never leaked in fact it was a beautiful day…I prayed for that same weather for the day of my wedding…but if happens to rain i will be just as happy because i will be marrying my best friend….and for that i can not wait!!! Plus if you live in Houston, texas….you dont like the weather wait 5 mins…it will change.!

My date is October 15th in St. Louis and I’m a tad bit worried. This past October in Missouri was absolutely GORGEOUS! It was prime wedding weather, temps were warm, the leaves were brilliant and it was exceptionally dry for a Missouri fall. I’m hoping that mother nature will decide to pull an encore this year! Keep your fingers crossed, ladies.

I’m hoping mother nature will be kind to us all.Our wedding date is October 7th and we are booked for an outdoor ceremony & cocktail hour in Pennsylvania. I’m only slightly concerned. There is a tent to serve as a back up location in case of rain. Sure it won’t look as pretty, but it’s not the end of the world. Of course ask me on the day of the wedding and I may freak out a tad.

We are getting married in Key West, and my only worry is HURRICANE season! Lol..but we figure if it happens, it happens… Besides rain is good luck so a hurricane we will have tons of luck! But seriously…I am worried, but worse case scenario we’ll buy umbrellas and we have a tent so we should be ok.
Happy planning! 8 months to go!
