@kc0624:  I would be interested to hear more about the progesterone balancing oil from proovo! I used their test strip last cycle but haven’t tried any other products. Also it’s so sweet that your POA date is your husbands bday! Fingers crossed for you.

Today is the beginning of my fertile window and I think this month we are going to go all in with the “more is more” technique and try to BD for the next 5 days straight. I feel like we have to try that method once right?? haha

Well, that was quick, AF arrived today so back at CD1. I am not surprised that my cycle might be alittle wonky being 8 month post partum and just off the pill. I just hope my LH phase doesn’t stay this short for too long. Looking forward to a glass of wine tonight ๐Ÿ™‚

@sarfin914:  sorry to make you update the calendar so quickly, but my new POAS is 10/29. That seems like such a long way off!

ROLL CALL

Your age/partner’s age: 38/39

Baby #: 2

Current cycle day/DPO: CD 12 and today was my IUI so I guess I’m 1DPO

Ovulation date: 9/29

POAS date: 10/14 is my blood test and I’m trying to hold off POAS until then!

Usual cycle length: 28

Cycles trying: 6

BFP plan (BD timing, charting, prenatals, supplements etc.): all of the above. Trying the preseed/mucinex/softcups trifecta, trying to avoid caffiene and alcohol too

Trying anything new this month? This month we did an IUI with letrozole (today actually!) and I’m getting back to acupuncture, which helped me ttc baby #1. I’m so over this so I’m throwing the kitchen sink at this cycle.

For fun: What was your favorite Halloween costume that you’ve worn? I don’t like costumes so I’m not much fun on halloween but a few years back when I was in grad school a few friends and I “dressed up” as a theoretical concept we were studying. We thought we were hilarious (clearly drank a bit!) but it was….lame.

@frenchtoastvegan:  I’m so sorry that AF arrived!  I don’t have much hope because my AMH is .26, so I have low egg count. BUT, this month is a two POAS month (I have 26 day cycles) and if AF comes at the beginning of the month, you and I will be double POAS twins because I’ll be on 10/29!  It’s my mom’s bday so fingers crossed.

@tomatotoes:  Did you have any monitored Letrozole cycles before the IUI?  What is your fertility issue, if that’s not too invasive of a question?

I ask because my AMH is .26 and this was my first monitored Letrozole cycle. We will move on to Letrozole and IUI if I’m not pregnant by November.

@frenchtoastvegan:  just wanted to say I had expired and non-experied OPKs and the results were the same on both! I did a comparison for a month just to see. No difference between them

ROLL CALL

Your age/partner’s age: 34/35

Baby #: 2

Current cycle day/DPO: Day 28 of an unsuccessful cycle – AF should arrive tomorrow

Ovulation date: 10/13

POAS date: 10/24 (DPO 11)

Usual cycle length: 28 days

Cycles trying: this is cycle 7

BFP plan (BD timing, charting, prenatals, supplements etc.): OPKs, temping, BD timing, prenatals, acupuncture

Trying anything new this month? Acupuncture, OB appt to do basic work up (only appointment I could get was in the TWW sooooo cool?), potentially linking up with a fertility nutrionist

For fun: What was your favorite Halloween costume that you’ve worn?

I lived abroad for so long that I have to go back to my college days for halloween costumes…and usually it was something cheaply pulled together from a thrift store. I honestly can’t remember most of them.

@curlygirlp:  hi there! Not too invasive a question at all! So I don’t have any official diagnosis of any fertility problems from the clinics and we’ve now done all the bloodwork and karyotyping/clotting panel/semen analysis/hysterosalpingogram stuff twice and they tell me everything looks great. However I had 3 CPs when ttc #1 so I did acupuncture/herbs and then progesterone supplements for that pregnancy- who knows if it helped or if we just got lucky. We decided to try naturally ttc #2 but I had another CP in July, so I did a month of cycle mapping with a homeopathic doc and it said I had luteal phase defect and progesterone was my problem (which I had suspended all along).  So we went ahead and did fertility testing a second time with a new clinic (since we had moved) and because of my age they suggested doing a letrozole TI or IUI cycle right away. We did one TI cycle with Letrozole and no bfp but my numbers were all good so they suggested continuing. I decided to add in IUI this time since it’s covered by insurance so I figured why not. The IUI wasn’t a big deal at all, just another visit to the clinic on top of the weekly follicle scans and bloodwork. I doubt it will help much because we don’t have any physical issues or MFI but it can’t hurt!

regarding AMH – I’ve been told it’s not a good indicator and not to worry about the numbers there (don’t remember who said that though). With baby #1 my number was 2.20 something and just recently they said my AMH was 3.01 so… maybe it improved? Or maybe it was something with the data reporting.

My plan is to try 3 IUI cycles and see how things go – if not, I will switch back to doing more intensive acupuncture/Chinese medicine (in-laws are Taiwanese so we feel very happy using TCM methods when we can). Our clinic wants to talk about IVF but I don’t think I want to do it because I don’t have any diagnosis to indicate it would be our only option and I don’t think I could handle it emotionally. I feel my clinic pushes us toward treatments because we have the insurance coverage for it but I don’t want to get talked into doing things that aren’t necessary.

anyway! Long story but I hope this is our month! Happy to see another “elder” ttc buddy here. Please keep me updated on your journey.

@tomatotoes:  Thank you for your thoughtful response and I am so sorry that you are dealing with loss. That is so hard.

Although I know that AMH isn’t the end-all-be-all, the fact that mine is so low is disheartening. Becuase of it being so close to infertile, my doctor is aggressively treating me. It’s also especially hard because we conceived our daughter on the third cycle. It was either dumb luck or my eggs have declined rapidly.

Super random, but has your clinic mentioned anything about the various genetic mutations that go along with recurrent loss?  (MTHFR and pai-1). The only reason I ask is because my sister went through a ton of heartache in her journey to have her second. They had no issues getting pregnant but she kept having losses. After the third, her insurance approved testing for pai-1, which she ended up having. It’s a clotting disorder and she was able to take shots for the duration of her pregnancy, just having her second two months ago. I just paid out-of-pocket to be tested because it’s genetic and I want to make sure I’ve ruled out all things if and when I get pregnant.  Might be worth bringing it up to your doctor.

@greenkate09:  I will definitely keep you posted on the oil! What did you think of the strips? I didn’t have one positive ๐Ÿ™ but I was suuuuuper close on 3 of the 4 so I’m hoping that the oil will nudge me in the right direction.

@kc0624:  that was exactly my experience too! I tried them 3 different days, and each time I would think it was a positive result when I looked at it on the counter. But then I would pick it up and there would be a faint pink line. Are you going to use the strips again this cycle?
