royal plantation was beautiful… great service, lovely friendly staff. its nice because its not too big, doesnt feel too busy. there is a lovely private beach with great service to the loungers.. my dh played golf, scuba dived, had tennis lessons.. i preferd to relax and read my books, interspersed with a few dips in the water. we went into the town once, we didnt like it tho. it didnt feel too safe.

We went to Sandals Grande Antigua for our honeymoon end of Sept and just got back from Sandals La Toc (visited the Grande and Halycon too!)I am 34 and my husband will be 40 this year. We enjoyed both our vacations but liked Sandals Grande Antigua resort a bit more. Each one has its pros and cons. Both trips the weather was beautiul, the resort staff was friendly, food was was fantastic and both had many restaurants to choose from. La Toc was a pretty resort but a bit tired looking. The beach was very private and not over crowded which we liked. We did visit the other 2 hotels The grande (30 minute shuttle ride) and halycon(15 minute shuttle) from La Toc. If i was to go back to st.lucia i would probably stay at The Grande. It was a newer resort, the views of the from the ocean were spectacular and it was close to rodney bay shopping mall. At La Toc we were close castries and the shopping was more tshirts, jewellery, hot sauce, wood carvings etc. We did take a tour(son of man) where we went to see the pitons, waterfalls, had a mud bath , had lunch at a local house and did some snorkelling. This was worth doing so i highly recommend doing. We had oceanview rooms at both resorts La Toc and Antigua. We were disappointed by Sandals La Toc that they do not stock our room fridge with alchol. Only water, fruita and pop. Antigua provided a very well stocked bar with wine, beer and liquor. Also at la toc we had a french balcony not a balcony you can actually sit out on. Speaking with some guests at grande this was the same.

Antigua the grounds were very lush and beautiful. We stayed on the Mediterran Village which was a highrise building. This building was fairly new so all rooms were in good conditon. The Caribean Side was older/tired looking but was very romantic. As the rooms were located between little inlets with smaller pools by the rooms. Most people were by the main pool so the little pools were very private.there were some rooms that were walk outs by the pool which looked great. My only is recommendation would be to request a renovated room for this side. At this resort we were in st johns an there was some shopping of items of better quality. We also did a tour of the island which was great but i heard the stingray tour was amazing and we regretted not doing. You seriously cant go wrong with either honeymoon but Antigua seemed to give you more for your money.

We had an oceanview room both in Antigua and La toc st lucia. I personally wouldnt pay for a butler but if you have the extra money why not as it would be an experience. Im sure you will have an amazing time at either you decide. St Lucia was still amazing and i would definately choose the grande over the other 2. If you have any other questions feel free to pm me!

I wanted to stay at the Grande, but all of the Butler Suites were booked. So we booked La Toc and plan on visiting Grande. I’ll be there from 10/28 – 11/4.
