@Jgvd88: San Francisco is one of my favorite cities in the US. I also think it’s the most beautiful! Combine it with a few days in Napa or Sonoma and you have a great vacation. Make sure to book your tickets for Alcatraz early though, they usually sellout early through presales.
Edit: I just saw two weeks! Maybe start up in Vancouver, BC, and then rent a car to drive down to San Francisco (supposed to be a gorgeous drive down the Pacific coastline) then out to Napa or Sonoma.

New England — Fall in New England is just incredible. With two weeks, you could do the major sites in all the states up there!

Oooh I think I’d maybe go to Vermont and go leaf-peeping. It’s SO beautiful and can be a very romantic place if you do the cozy B&B thing, etc. (Check when peak season is, but it’s sometime in October.)

I third New England! You could do Boston, and then work your way up to Vermont/New Hampshire and see all the ridiculously gorgeous fall colors! There are great deals on vacation homes that time of year, and most of them have hot tubs, since they are used for ski season :-). You could end in Maine!

@Jgvd88: If you went outdoorsy/hikey kitchy Asheville NC would be perfect during fall! Not terribly cold but beautiful fall scenery!

I’m going to vote New England also!!
Fiance and I are getting married Oct 2014 in Florida, though, so we’re spending our 3 day “honeymoon” at Disney and Universal (Fright Fest will be on!)…possibly not incredibly romantic but I’m excited anyway!

I also recommend New England. It’s one of my dream vacation spots. The fall foilage will be beautiful that time of year! You can fly to Boston, spend some time in the ciy, rent a car and head up to Vermont/New Hampshire to do some outdoorsy things, then head back to Boston and take the train to NYC to catch a show! You’d have plenty to do for 2 weeks.

I second the suggestion of San Francisco and Napa/Sonoma! October is harvest season in wine country and a great time to be there, including all kinds of harvest events at the wineries. Plus it’s generally the best time of year for good weather in San Francisco — even better than summer because there’s less fog. Maybe combine it with a drive down the coast to Monterey, Carmel, and Santa Barbara. Enjoy your honeymoon!

Ahhhh so many options! I am thinking the east coast sounds fun and beautiful with the fall colors. But I am not familiar with the cities or other hot spots to check out. Any suggestions?!

@Jgvd88: If you’re looking for desert, red rock and hiking, October is primo time for the Utah Nationals Parks! Zion, Bryce, Arches, Canyonlands, and Capitol Reef. Shorts and t-shirt by day, then chilly at night. We have had somany awesome blue bird days this October.
Sedona, AZ would also be lovely and that’s a fun place to visit too!

Jgvd88: I live in new england and I am going south after my early fall wedding..lol. If you do New England in fall, you want to start further up first then work down (depending on peak vs. your visit) as the foliage starts to turn in northern parts first and works it’s way down :). You can check out past years foliage charts to get an idea when peak is as it is never the same each year.

ebarnes0: We are also going to attend the Universal Halloween festivities. I am so excited I can’t wait!! I was afraid we would miss it at the end of September, but we are just in time!! WOOHOO 🙂
