So, I was talking to my mom this weekend about the dress. She wants me to wear hers. Its not my style, she however had an amazing cloak that she wore that I adore. So here’s the question, do you guys think it would be OK to wear her cloak and a new dress? Here’s the kicker, we’re getting married in October in Wisconsin; is it too early in the season for a cloak?

Well, do you often do fall/winter in WI?(read: are you super familiar with what to expect of the temps that time of year?)
I know here (slightly more north than WI), if the date were at the END of October, it would definitely be a must have (just for the cold).. however, since your date is at the beginning of the month, you might be able to get away with not needing it (for the cold etc)… but it really comes down to what you want.
However, if you are having a late into the evening reception you might still want to consider it, instead of just a jacket.
How about looking into the average october temps for the past 5 years and taking that into consideration? Google-fu FTW!

Seeing as my date is a few weeks after yours, I’m hoping you won’t need it b/c we’ll have another warm October!!! That being said, I think it can either be a game time decision or really, who cares, wear what you want. 🙂

I think it would be fine! And really sweet to wear something of your mother’s.

I agree with checking with the weather patterns of the last 5 years. I’m in California and my friend got married in the beginning of October and it was 90 degrees!! But it’s really up to you. If you really liked the cloak and it goes with your dress, do it if you want. Even if it is hot, you can do as you please. Just drink plenty of water to make sure you don’t faint. Hehee. Best of luck!!

October to me means Fall (here in New England at least). I think it is fine for October. If it were summer, that would be a different story.

Worse case scenerio, use it for pictures.

I think regardless of whether you need it for cold, it would be awesome to wear for pictures.

it’s a sweet gesture to your mom and a nice way to keep warm if you need it, I say go for it!

Isn’t it cold in Wisconsin in October? I think a cloak is fine. A full on mink might not. What does it look like?

haha im in NC and it gets cold here in october! but being from the south pretty much anything under 50 degrees is cold to me. im dying this week – 26 degrees during the day..unheard of.
anyway, i dont think that is too early, especially being so far north, you may actually really need it 🙂 such a sweet gesture too.

Wow! Thanks for all the input everyone!
The temp can really vary here in october, this year it was in the upper 50’s, but its been as hot as the 70’s later than the first. I don’t want it to look silly be like 70 and me wearing a fuzzy cloak! Its kind of a slinky fabric, I don’t know what it is and the trim is feathers. I like the idea of using it for pictures though!
