My fiance and I are having our wedding in October but I am not in love with the traditional fall colors. I would like to have a brown, green, and ivory rustic theme but I don’t know how bad that would look with the season. Do you think those colors are appropriate or should I go with a more traditional theme?

I am in a similar place, I love love love fall colors, but we are getting married in the spring… The brown and ivory are neutral enough that it wouldn’t really matter what time of year you had those colors. What shade of green are you thinking?

I think the brown/ivory rustic would definitely work… what kinda green do you want?
I mean honestly I think almost any shade would work as a PoP accent color
This color had a lime green accent in atleast one of their picks but did kinda a neutral shades the rest it looks idk if this would help but the “green” triggered having seen it
Just browse around.. you’d be very surprised what “fits” together =)

I’m getting married this October and didn’t want traditional fall colors either because I was envisioning Thanksgiving 🙂
We’re having slate gray, shades of greens, and white/ivory.

I think I am going with a sage green. I told my family the colors I like and they said ” why would you want that in the fall?” Nothing like familys’ input to drive you crazy lol.

I hope it doesn’t look bad because those are our colors! We’re using black, ivory, celedon/sagey green, and brown (branches, natural elements, etc). Our wedding is this October.

I think it will be lovely. You don’t always need red, orange and gold to have a fall theme.

Here are some brown/green wedding pics that made me think could fit with rustic:
and mason jars will almost always pull a wedding to “rustic” I found this and thought it was pretty neat…
hope that helps some =)

The green is so pretty! I think it will look great. I also don’t think you need to go with “fall” colors just b/c of the season. Obviously you need to consider your venue and your theme and all that in picking colors. We ARE going with more traditional fall colors, because that was always what I envisioned. It also goes with our barn reception overlooking a hill COVERED in fall foliage. For us, not having these colors brought in wouldn’t make sense, IMO. But we are also mixing up the colors a bit. Heavier on the orange and little pops of blue too!

I think those colors would be lovely for a fall wedding. I am thinking of the ways the woods look when all the leaves have fallen- brown, gray, silver, and still some green in places. The smell of wood smoke. Cooking beef stew in a crock pot and going for a hike during the day. (oh, my favorite time of year- can you tell!)
Could you incorporate branches in your decor? I’ve seen weddings that bring in small trees or branches (usually birch) and position them in the reception area with lights wrapped around them. With a rustic theme that seems perfect for fall!

I’m sorry I am so late on this one! I think your palette sounds absolutely lovely! I would do apple and sage greens with the brown and ivory, and maybe throw in a khaki color to make it even more rustic and subdued for the fall. Whatever you choose will be beautiful, no matter the season! Best wishes!

@undecidedbride: We are getting married on the same day and with the same color scheme! Assuming you went with the green brown and ivory shades. Are you pretty much finished with planning?
