Canada – where in Canada?? I can give you heaps of advice as I’m from there!!!

Vegas – what hotel?  Make sure you check out one of the ice bars – and the pirate show at Treasure Island and the Volcano at Mirage – and try to go see the Cirque show LOVE or Zumanity…  Walk around heaps – make sure you go all the way down to Mandalay Bay and checkout downtown too (Fremont Experience, etc)!  Find HAPPY HOURS for cheap food & drinks and YES alcohol is free if you’re gambling (even if you are just sitting or standing near the tables or playing penny slots).

NYC – try to buy the Lonely Planet “Encounters” little book for NYC… then do/eat/see anything it says… it’s an amazing little guide and it’s cheap!

We got married in Vegas (from Australia). Make sure to do a Grand Canyon trip from Vegas and take an empty suitcase and hit the outlet malls in Vegas- soooooo cheap!!!!!!!!! Well shopping in general is cheap compared to here so it is crazy cheap at the outlets!

Also make sure you get down to Freemount street in Vegas- it is about the only place to get old school vegas now. I was shocked at how much it looked like a city now – reminded me of singapore or Bangkok with all the glass windowed buildings. You can even zipline at freemount street- do it at night whilst the light show is on!

See a broadway show in NYC- if you aren’t interested in physically going to Ellis Island (Statue of Liberty Island- which is interesting with its immigration museum) just grab the public ferry (I forget which one) and you can get great shots of the statue!

Have fun!

@hanzabelle:  You are going to love the Luxor!  You can easily get to Mandalay Bay or Excalibur (right across from New York Hotel) from your hotel by walkway or monorail!!  Must see hotels are Caesar’s Palace, The Venetian, The Bellagio, Planet Hollywood (The Miracle Mile Shops are awesome)…Definitely go to th Fashion Show Mall for great shopping & like another poster said… the outlets are UNREAL (http://www.fashionoutletvegas.com and http://www.premiumoutlets.com) are probably the best ones!

Instead of going to Serendipity in NYC (which lots of people will reccomend) go to the one in Vegas – you can get the same Frozen Hot Chocolate without the insane lineups & crowded/dingy decor in NYC!

Luxor has a yummy mexican take out place called Tacos & Tequila – shots, margaritas & mexican bands await u!

The best buffets I’d reccomend are Excalibur for a cheap breaky one that’s close to your hotel (bonus if you sleep in and arrive at their changeover – pay the breaky price but get lunch food too!).  For more upscale/dinner buffets go to Le Village at Paris or the Spice Market @ Planet Hollywood.

Also, one of the best kept secrets of Vegas is the Fireside Lounge – any local will be able to point u in the right direction (North Strip).

If you’re a bikini/beach lover try to find a poolside dayclub (like a daytime nightclub) – Hard Rocks is good I hear or Tao Beach!

Okay this is getting long… let me know if you want more info 🙂

Also Vancouver is absolutely beautiful!!!  Make sure to go see Granville Island – they have amazing markets & an awesome brewery…  You can’t go wrong in Van – you will fall in love with it!

In NYC, definitely get out of the touristy areas for the real fun NYC experiences. Head to the East Village or West Village. In Vino for modern Italian wine bar with killer food, Mercadito for amazing Mexican, Mermaid Inn for oytsers and seafood, Five Points for nice pan American, Great Jones Cafe for Cajun brunch (I live in the East Village, but seriously, these are all amazing, I don’t think any have entrees over $15 or so, except maybe Five Points).

Have a blast!
