We have a pit mix mutt from the shelter. They told us she was pit/boxer but I don’t see it, I think she’s pit/bulldog. She’s a short & stout lil thing, about 60 pounds & my knee height. I had never been around pit’s before we got her & we adopted her when she was 2 yrs old so we were a little worried that she may have bad habits or demeanor. We fell in love as soon as we got her in the car & don’t know what we would do without our fur-baby!
I’d love a big ol dog too but ya, I don’t do slober! An old friend of ours had a collection of Irish Wolfhounds- they were big dogs but not really messy. By collection I mean he could not stop buying these dogs- despite the fact he had no yard, they had to sleep in his kitchen, he had no money to feed his family or take them to the vet when they got sick… He ended up with 5 wolfhounds, 2 St. Bernards, & 2 mutts (in a house with 2 small children). Most of the wolfhounds passed away (not the healthiest breed to begin with due to in-breeding). I REALLY wanted to call animal control to get the dogs outta there & in a better life but I was afraid he might end up losing his kids in the process….

We’ll probably always have a pit bull/pit mix if we have a dog.
They are so sweet and they really need more capable people to love them.
Greyhounds are great for small spaces as well. I really love them, too.

I love all dogs and always had shelter mutts growing up, but Fiance and I have chickens, ducks and geese and needed a dog that we could be relatively certain had no prey drive, so after much research we got a Boston Terrier. He is the love of my life (um, besides Fiance of course). He’s a total clown, wonderfully sweet and is such a good boy. He has never done anything naughty; even when he was a puppy he never chewed on anything except his own toys. If you even say his name in a slightly raised tone of voice his eyes get big as saucers because he never wants to get in trouble! He loves to play but is not hyper/manic, loves to snuggle but is not clingy. He only barks when he thinks there’s someone at the door or something strange going on outside. Oh and did I mention that he’s really stinkin cute?

I want an Irish Wolfhound terribly! I love the sighthound personality, my greyhound is my favorite…Mr. 99 is more of a hunting dog kind of guy, he’s got a yellow lab…and I dig my Great Pyrenese…but he’s so fluffy I wanna die whenever he blows a coat!

I am DYING for a PUPPY! Me and my Fiance have diff views on dogs. He wants a big dog to LIVE in the house and (we will have a small starter home) that I just feel is too small for a big dog that weighs 80+ lbs. Honestly, I dont want to be tripping over it all the time or making it move so I can walk by.
I have BIG TIME allergies so I want a dog that doesnt shed as much and is medium to small while he wants a BIG DOG that sheds like crazy. (My allergies have gotten bad the past several years where I want to scratch my eyes out when I am around cats and dogs…it even makes my contacts pop out when I dont scratch them). I would love a German Sheppherd but I feel it is too big for our starter home muchless the ALLERGIES related.

We have a Boxer and I can’t see us going for another breed. He’s so fun and loveable. He does drool everywhere and he’s a whiner. We both like big dogs (he likes giant breeds but I think he’s nuts)

We want a husky and German Shepard. I can’t wait until we move to a house with a big yard!!

Woah, a French Bulldog mixed with labs/retrievers?
I’m trying not to picture the hilarity of that! Also, I thought Frenchies could not breed/conceive naturally?

Siberian Husky… I grew up with them my whole life and can’t wait to have one of our own. They’re such wonderful animals.

Aw, I totally understand. We have a house, and my 8 month rottie gets stuck between the coffee table and the couch all the time. Its kind of frustrating, really. haha. Good for you on waiting until you’re ready to be a good doggy mom! I’ve wanted one of those three breeds my entire life, and I timed it so my pup came arrived (she was flown here) the DAY OF my house closing. I couldn’t wait a day longer.
Someone with a german shepherd please post pics for me to oogle over!

I have a German Shorthair and I don’t know if I can ever have a different breed of dog. She is so filled with life, adorably sweet, and super smart. As a bird dog, she loves to hunt for me and she eats bugs that get in the house. She is thin and tall and beautiful and we love hiking and she runs free, but comes at my whistle. I get compliments on her wherever I go- people will shout from cycles or cars “Beautiful dog!” She keeps me in shape because she loves exercise and will go all.day. A lot of her greatness has to do with my training (I continue to work hard at it every day!). She is just a wonderful part of our life. She never makes a peep (trained her that way) unless someone angry is pounding at the door, or drunk or something. When she needs something I taught her to sit in front of me politely to “ask.” When I ask the right thing, “do you need to go potty?” she dances in a circle and then returns to her perfectly still seat in front of me. GSPs have a lot of control from being pointers. She holds perfectly still. Knows every command. Even hand-signals. I love her! I also taught her to fetch- which is her absolute most favorite thing in the world, along with hikes and snuggling under a blanket (she gets cold!).
I also love Springer Spaniels (holy cuteness/ sweetness!) and would consider an Irish Setter. I like big dogs because we are active, love to camp and fish and hike. I also love Blood Hounds and Boston Terriers. I could love any dog, because I love them so much.

We want a Blue American Staffordshire Terrier. That’s probably the first dog we’re getting. They’re really good dogs, obedient, loyal and protective of their owners. We want a female – naming her Bowie. We really want an active dog that will go hiking with us and running. We cannot wait for this addition to the family! I’m more excited about this puppy than I think I would be if I got pregnant LOL jk. Don’t ever tell my future children I said that.. 🙂
We also want a bulldog, male, Thiago.

Great dane! So adorable and sweet. Labs are the best too, so we shall see.

@Roe: I know – crazy!
We got a genetics test kit as a gift and it said that our boy’s parents were a pure golden, and a frenchie/lab mix. So he’s half golden, quarter French bulldog, quarter lab. I’d like to see what that French bulldog/lab mix looked like!
Here’s a pic (he was maybe 8 months old at the time – about a year ago):
He does have the strechiest skin I’ve ever seen.
