Question for ya….can nonCatholic bring up the gifts during the offertory? I remember discussing this was my priest and I believe he said they didn’t have to be Catholic. I didn’t want to bother him, unless I absolutely have to. My cousin is Protestant but I wanted her to bring up one of the gifts.

I think that would be fine! I’m sure your church would have you told you if they HAD to be Catholic if that was a rule.

I’m pretty sure it would be fine… don’t ask, don’t tell!
I know that some churches encourage/require the people who do the readings to be Catholic, but I don’t think I’ve ever heard of that for the offertory.

Yes, it is fine. I asked my priest and he was completely okay with it. Actually of my 3 readers and 2 gift bearers, only one was Catholic. But if your priest is really old school, he may discourage it, so I wouldn’t ask. You’ll be fine with your cousin carrying the gifts.

During the RCIA process I often took the offertory up to the priest with my FMIL- as long as the non Catholic isn’t receiving communion it’s fine!
