I work in a design office. I’m often going to meetings and need to bring drawings or client files. Right now I only have my (rather worn) laptop bag that i bought in 2008 for school.
I need something that I can carry drawings and files in (usually letter sized, occasionally legal) – help me out! It doesn’t have to be a briefcase, a large purse could work I suppose!

I got this tote to carry all my therapy materials and files, iPad, etc. It’s got two sides and pretty large. I’ve also seen some cute totes at Old Navy and Vera Bradley but I wasn’t sure how they’d hold up with all my stuff

I use an oversized totebag. It was a cheap find at a discount store (Ross or similar). I’ve been carrying this bag for at least 8 years and still get random compliments from strangers.

I carry one of these: http://www.target.com/p/solo-classic-tote-black-16/-/A-15089186#prodSlot=medium_1_5&term=laptop+bag
They have some gorgeous “laptop bags” at Staples, too. I love it- have plenty of space for my computer, and files.
My red one is structured so it won’t fall over as easily, and has just enough pockets to keep organized without being a purse.

I use a laptop bag I got from Vera Bradley. It has the spot inside for your computer, a detachable longer sholder strap and if you do any traveling it has the sleeve on the outside so you can stick it over the handle on your luggage (which was a big plus for me). I’ve had it for about 3 years now and it’s still in amazing condition.

I use an oversized tote just like PP. It works out because it’s stylish, yet extremely versatile.

I use an oversized satchel that I got at TJ Maxx for $25. I just tried to find the brand, but couldn’t see it on the inside of the bag. It’s just one of those generic bags they sell at TJ Maxx/Marshalls. It’s held up pretty well, and I can fit my notebooks (all sizes) and laptop into it.

I use the classic monogrammed LL Bean boat tote — it was a gift from my Mother-In-Law. I have the large size with long handles (I think) and it fits legal-size files plus lunch or gym clothes.

MsGinkgo: I am lusting after this Dagne Dover tote. A little on the pricey side, but it is specifically made for the fashanistas at work

This is what I carry to work. It fits my laptop which is pretty big and pretty heavy. I like it because both the handles and the shoulder strap are sturdy. I also like that it’s structure so if i’m on the train it sits up by itself.

I carry an Alesya Bag. It looks like a regular, large purse but also fits a laptop. I’m able to carry letter size files, though I’m not sure about legal.

I’m carrying a faux leather satchel similar to this :

I already own a laptop bag and I didn’t want to use it to bring files to meetings. I wanted something more elegant and stylish, yet practical. I shopped at Marshalls. They have plenty of choices when it comes to handbags, at a fair price too.

I use a Goyard St. Louis tote (size gm) as my work bag. Its chic, huge, and the canvas material is very durable to put in my bike basket. It also has a small wrislet inside for things like house keys, hand sanitizer, lip gloss..
Bonus points that its not as popular in my city as Louis Vuitton so I’m not carrying the same bag as everyone else.
