I’m so excited I can’t stand it!!
Just talked to my doctor today to get the all clear, because we are honeymooning in the Bahamas and I wanted to ensure that there was no Zika risk before planning to move forward. Doc says not to worry so after this pack of BC, it’s all systems go!! I’ll officially come off the week before the wedding and I’m so excited. I’m 35, so this is a long time coming, and I can’t wait to get started (I’ve been on BC for the better part of 20 years so I’m excited in more ways than one).

krm1984 : YAY!!! that’s so exciting, congratulations! It’ll be intereting to see how your body reacts to coming off the pill! I will finish my last BC pack the day before our wedding, I’ll be 35 also, so I’m pretty excited. I have serious baby fever. A coworker told us his wife was expecting yesterday and I got all choked up because of how excited I am for them… we’re not even that close! hahah

Charliejeorge : Thank you so much, it sounds like we are on similar paths!! Good luck to you, and maybe we can compare notes as this will all be new to me, LOL. I’m trying to remind myself that it can take a few months for your body to even regulate first, so I don’t want to be impatient!
Jazzylove : Thank you! I hope it’s short too because I feel like since we want two kids, I need to get crackin. But I also understand that it is what it is, and we’ll just take whatever we are given! I want to make sure that if it’s a longer journey that I try to enjoy it, even if it leads us to a place we didn’t necessarily expect.

krm1984 : Congratulations!! That is super exciting.
I would personally probably keep taking BCP until after my wedding if I was you. Just because you never know what side effects might occur after 20 years on a drug. BCP is known for being helpful with acne, and when I came off of it I found myself breaking out quite a bit. Just food for thought. Not that a pimple on your wedding day is the end of the world, but you never know what’ll end up happening with your period/bleeding, mood, appetite, sex drive, and so on while your body adjusts to life off of the pill.

Yay exciting times ahead bee 🙂
Although I absolutely have to second PP, my skin was an absolute nightmare after coming off the pill. Not like “oh no a few pimples”, but full face and body acne, way worse than I ever got as a teenager before the pill, that took 8 months to clear up before my hormones regulated. I would hate for that to happen to you right before your wedding!

mrsssb : Congratulations, so excited for you!!! We are now on cycle 2 – officially started last month on our honeymoon right after I came off BC pills. Gotta say, half the fun is in trying. 😉 This month I am using the FF app, keeping a journal of OPKs so I can tell when I actually ovulate (temps are still regulating) etc. It’s been fascinating learning how my body behaves when not regulated by hormones; it’s really kind of amazing! I was lucky enough to get my period back my first month off BC and looks like I ovulated like clockwork on day 14 based on temps and CM.
On to round 2! Good luck to you, please share your journey with us!

I went off the pill in mid-October and am also intrigued to see what my cycle looks like. I’m using the Ovia app to track and haven’t bought any OPKs yet. We are planning to start TTC early next year, as soon as we move to a new state, so hopefully I’ll have a couple of months’ data to go off of by then and get lucky (heh) within our first couple of cycles.
What are you observing about your body off the hormones? So far I think I’m breaking out a little more than usual but nothing too crazy. I had some cramps that weren’t synced with a period or PMS timing. Other than that, no mood swings or anything to speak of.
I will say, since I stopped BC, our sex life has decreased. Darling Husband is worried about getting me pregnant before we “officially” start TTC. I think it’s partly because the move is a bit daunting- he has to find a new job, though we have savings and are moving to a lower cost-of-living area than where we are now. Also, he’s got a big trip early next fall that I’m encouraging him to go on, a reunion of his grad school friends in Europe for one of their weddings – but of course he won’t go if I’m about to give birth, or if we have a newborn. I’m so excited about becoming a mom though! And he’s acting even more affectionate and attentive than he normally does (which is a lot) so I think he’s also feeling the buzz of anticipation about growing our family.

mrsptobe2017 : Congratulations to you!! To be honest, I’d start using OPKs as soon as you can if I were you. I just temped/tracked CM my first month off BC but because my temps were so erratic, I wasn’t really able to confirm ovulation (though I had a strong suspicion as to when it was based on other factors). I wish I’d started using them sooner because it’s so clear what’s going on. Super easy.
I haven’t really seen much change since coming off BC except that I was really tired for the first couple of weeks – I noticed this during tough workouts, I was WINDED way sooner than I should have been. I’m hoping that remains the case because I’ve heard stories of skin changes, weight gain, etc. I also wasn’t prepared for the changes the female body goes through during ovulation – holy hell! Sore boobs, increased sex drive, alllll the CM – I didn’t have any of that while on BC because my system was suppressed. It was hard coming off BC and actively TTC that first month because I kept symptom spotting, when really it was just normal luteal phase stuff going on, I just didn’t know (cramping, headaches, etc.)
Just pay attention and try not to test early! I drove myself nuts with that on cycle 1, LOL. Congrats again!

krm1984 : Oh yes! my boobs were very sore last week lol. Good point on the OPKs. I’ll buy some cheapies on Amazon.
