Oh yea, and this is not the first time this has happened. The first guy I had, who I scheduled the wedding around, canceled about 3 months ago! This is a nightmare…waiting on a pastor to call me back. Should be any minute now.
I really don’t want to do a justic of the peace wedding, I’ve paid too much for this thing to not do it the way I want….any advice? I’m kinda in a weird spaced out mood, not really freaking out just yet. I just can’t believe this happened twice!

Oh my gosh, I am so sorry!
I have no advice besides what you’re doing, calling around to see if you can find a substitute… I’m just sorry this is happening!

May be a silly q – why did they cancel at such short notice? Shouldn’t they have to find a replacement as they’ve dumped you in it?

Glad you’re calm — freaking out won’t get you anywhere, it’s work time (unfortunately). Is the wedding in a religious space (ie can you rely on the church to find someone else)?

yikes! Are you having the ceremony in a church, or other venue?
If my minister backed out, first thing I’d do is see if there’s another pastor from the congregation who could do it. Then just start calling other local churches, and see if they have available clergy.

Ah, I was in the same situation, only we had an extra month to find someone new… again.
I was so frustrated by the situation I let my Fiance pick. Ask the drop out if they can make a recommendation or two for a replacement.
PM if I can help somehow, best of luck.

I had the same exact thing happen to me, but with less a week’s notice! Our officiant FORGOT and had other plans that day. Yeah. Just take a deep breath, sit down with a list of nearby officiants, and start making phone calls.

I’m in Indianapolis. If you can’t find someone, let me know. PM me or something and I’ll try asking around. You’ll find someone! I’m 5 months out from our wedding and we still don’t have an officiant and I’m starting to freak out.

Wow, that’s awful! I agree with PPs, shouldnt the cancelling officiant have to find someone since it’s less than two weeks from the wedding? Props on keeping your cool, though!

Oh wow. I feel so bad for you. I’m sorry that happened. I wish we weren’t having an Uncle do our officiating for us so I could recommend a good pastor but unfortunately we are. Have you asked around with family and friends? Perhaps they know someone. Best of luck to you!
