@CARA1978:  Wow, that has to be so tough this late in the game. Is he part of a network of officiants? Does he have any suggestions on who else to contact? Just start calling everyone you can and hopefully someone has an opening. Good luck!

Will it be really that hard to find another officiant? We have quite a few in my city, and I had no problem booking for December. She was open the entire month except for one day. Yeah, October is closer, but I am sure you will find someone. Don’t give up!

@CARA1978:  is he part of a church that you are getting married in?  is there someone else taking his place?

perhaps you can ask him to recommend a few others that you can meet with to see if you have a connection with them.

Additionally, I am not sure what the law is where you are, but what about a family member or close friend? Anyone can be ordained on the internet for a small fee and in no time at all.

This happened to me and we found a replacement the same day. If you have a hard time finding one, you can always pay $50 for a justice of the peace to do it! ( at least in my county)

@CARA1978:  yeah for my county, it was ony a $50 fee and he’d come to our venue. Check with the county court house that your venue is located in. We ended up getting a family friend pastor that will do it for us for free, but the JOP was a good option too!

If you’ve hired a DJ or band through a booking service, ask them. A lot of DJ services actually have MC’s who are licensed to perform marriage ceremonies so their customers can do one-stop shopping.

Try abeautifulaffairoftheheart.com.  I contacted them and they found me an awesome officiant in my area. They have officiants for multiple religions too. They have many different ceremony scripts you can choose from if you want.

I’m glad that you found a list of officiants. Like the others, I was also going to recommend the Universal Life Church. We hired a friend initially who dropped bombs on us and we had to fire him 8 weeks before the wedding. My brother took over and did a beautiful job. In my state, it was totally free to get ordained…after registering online, BOOM, legal.

@CARA1978:  You’ve likely already found someone but I just came across this post. We are in your same area and hired a man who goes by the name “The Wedding Judge” I believe his actual name is Anthony Behrens. He’s very reasonable & does a lot of weddings on short notice, I believe.

Hope this helps if you haven’t already found someone to do it.
