Do you need two meetings and her at all the other events? Maybe you can negotiate with her about her services. But, know if you need her less then you need to be very VERY clear about what you want at yiur ceremony.

@soontobehisbride:  I would fall over at those prices. . . However you may live in an area that has a higher COL. I think my area, if you were to hire someone, was $300-$400.  My husband and I got married at the church he was apart of.  They just asked that we make a donation to the church, they didn’t give us a set amount. We met with him twice at his office (near the church), for the rehearsal, and then our ceremony (short and sweet 🙂  ).

Agreeing that sounds really high. Ours was originally 395 (the highest of our choices, but we liked her best), then she brought it down to 250 without us asking since we’re having an off season wedding.

@soontobehisbride:  thats ridiculous. i live and had my wedding in Brooklyn NY and weddings here are pretty $$$ and the officiant fee was $500 and we had unlimited meetings. Not sure if it makes a difference that the ceremony was at a Catholic church and it was really a fee it was a “suggested” donation

@soontobehisbride:  that’s really high – we had an officiant who was completely full of it – she gave us different prices on packages (1200 for the most expensive one!!! What?!) and the prices increased depending on how many people we wanted to do readings. Which makes no sense. We ended up with a no-nonsense guy who is charging $300 for the rehearsal and day-of. He is employed as an officiant through the state-look for someone like that. They will be more reasonable.

@soontobehisbride:  I’ll also mention we live right near NYC and if we can find an officiant for $300 you should be able to as well – because everything around us is insanely expensive !

@soontobehisbride:  That seems high to me too.

Our officiant will cost a little over $300 but that does not include a rehearsal. We would have to pay extra if we want him there.

We only paid $150 for ours and that included pre-marital meetings, the rehearsal and ceremony. I would never pay as much as yours is asking.

mine is 150, and here in NC that is expensive, Pastors or Preachers here usually ask for $100. But i Can’t go to meetings at night because of my job. So we went with a man, that is not asking much of our time before hand. He is just a traveling officiant. 150 sounds great now, compared to all of these prices!

@soontobehisbride:  Ours was free but he is also our pastor.  We paid for his hotel room ($120) and a $100 gift card to pay for their gas and food.

When we were looking for one most of them were in the 400 – 500 dollar range. Luckily for us the lady that married my sister is willing to give us the same rate that she did for their wedding, 75 dollars.

@soontobehisbride:  $650 for ours.  And for Michigan that’s pretty high.

Ours was $300 for everything yours included. Did he really stipulate “unlimited emails/calls”? That just seems like it should be included no matter what. I can’t imagine anything only being able to contact my officiant a limited number of times 😐
