@soontobehisbride: Ours is $450 and we met with him once, we’ve exchanged a few emails and he’s personalized our ceremony. He doesn’t attend the rehearsal or the dinenr and doesn’t stay for the reception so in a way, we save some by not needing to pay for meals.

@soontobehisbride: Seems really high. I am also in MN, and we paid $250 for our wedding in November.

@soontobehisbride: We just met with a lady that we absolutely loved and want for our officiant. Her fee is $400 and includes the same things your officiant includes. I still think that’s high but I’m willing to pay more because we have the money and the ceremony is a high priorty for us.

I have never heard of an officiant fee higher than $400. To me, that is crazy. Especially when you can ask a friend to do it for a $30 liscensing fee. We paid $800 for the entire ceremony rental, and that includes the reverend’s services, clean up, music, etc.

Have a friend do it! I don’t know what it’s like in your state, but in MA anyone can get a one day license for $25. We’re having our friend do ours.

Seems high. We’re looking in the central Pa area, but also consider the Phila. suburbs, but they’d charge a travel fee. We got quoted a high of $550 plus $100 for the rehearsal (we wanted to write, with officiant review), to the one we booked. $300 – includes rehearsal, first meet in person (1 hour), an over 1 hour skype counseling session, and another hour skype, closder to the date, to go over the ceremony.
We found ours on weddingwire. She only had couple of reviews, but has a blog, with videos, so we could get to know her that way.. We started out with the ones with the most reviews, which may have been a mistake – they were much more expensive, qiute determined to do it their way, and wouldnt’ use a ceremony from my religion – insisted on us handcrafting it together, probably to justify their high fee.

I think this is totally reasonable. They put a lot of work into the ceremony and the meetings. We paid more than this for ours when it was all said and done. That said, there are a lot of less expensive options, and officiants. If this isn’t acceptable, keep looking.

@soontobehisbride: It seems high to me. We are getting married in a church so paying about that for everything (including the officiant) ceremony-related.

Yeah that seems really high. Ours was $350, and we got a slight discount from a drawing to $300.

Whoa!! What a ripoff! Ours wasn’t more than 250$.

We met with another great officiant last night. Her fee is $575. Yes, still probably more than I would have liked to pay but the ceremony is important to me so we are going to with it and its $275 less than the other!
