- Wedding: October 2009
We are getting married on Oct. 17 in ATL and have pretty much every detail taken care of except who is going to marry us. My Fiance is Jewish and I am Catholic and we are having an outdoor ceremony at the reception site. We do not care if we have a religious officiant and are open to just about anything (within reason).
We found a liberal rabbi, but my parents have said that if there is a rabbi, then there needs to be a priest. Finding a priest seems to be a virtual impossibility — not getting married in a church pretty much rules it out entirely much to my disappointment (having spent 9 years in a Catholic elementary school etc). I do not live in ATL right now (I am out of state) and not actively involved with a church here. The rabbi we have been talking to does not appear to have any Catholic contacts, or at least none that he has offered.
2 questions — does anyone have any suggestions about whether/how a retired priest (either Catholic or Episcopal – fine with either) could co-officiate and how I might find one? Otherwise, if we want a judge or Justice of the Peace, how does that work? How do you locate one and do you have to supply the wording/structure for the ceremony?
