- Wedding: September 2012
So I have been giving this one a lot of thought recently. Fiance and I are not religious people. We don’t go to church, so I am not going to fake it and get married in one or by a clergyperson. This has complicated things in the officiant department. We have no one to marry us!! After thinking about this for a while and beeing taken aback by the $500+ officiant fee for non-denominational officiants in our area, we decided to go the “get-a-friend-ordained” route. We have been thinking and thinking about who to ask, but our best friends, the ones who have been there for us from the beginning, are already our Bridesmaid or Best Man and Maid/Matron of Honor (they also just so happen to be married to each other!). So today I had an idea, but I wanted to get some opinions on this. I want to ask them to also officiate our wedding. They would do the whole walking down the aisle thing as per usual, however once my dad gave me away, they would step from beside us to in front of us (where the officiant normally stands) and go through our short, self-written ceremony. They would only have to read a pharagraph, we would say our vows, then they would do the traditional in sickness and in health bit, then we would kiss and be married! What do you girls think?
