We are having a a semi-formal/formal wedding. Our wedding officiant is a friend of my dad’s who is performing the ceremony for free, what should he wear? He said he usually wears wranglers and boots, but that really doesn’t go with our wedding or venue…Is it rude to ask him to wear a suit/tux???

I do not think it’s rude at all! I think if you are asking for him to wear a suit he already owns, that is more then acceptable. If you do want him to wear an actual tux — that might be something that you offer to pay for him as he is obviously doing this as a generous gift to you, you shouldnt expect him to pay addidtional money for a rented tux.
This sounds wonderful though. I hope that helped!
What do you all think? Is it asking too much?

I think a suit he already owns would be the way to go. I can’t really picture the officiant wearing a tux. It seems weird to me for some reason.

I also would not put the officiant in a tux. That would look too weird, like he was part of the wedding party! I think he should wear a nice dark suit. Since he already probably owns one I think this is totally fine to ask.
