Hello, I was wondering how to go about finding someone to perform our ceremony. We are looking for non-religious, civil ceremony. We are getting married in the Hall we chose, in September 2010 and need some help fiding someone to marry us. Does anyone have any suggestions please? Thanks so much!

Where in WI are you getting married?

Have you thought about having a family member or close friend do it? I really want my Step-Father (More like actual father) to do it because I think that’s the ultimate giving away of the bride!

I don’t know what we’ll do. Maybe a family friend will get “deputized” and perform the ceremony? Probably a female, since those are the more outgoing amongst our peeps.

Thanks for the comments!
We are getting married in Menomonee Falls.
Ithought about asking my best friend to officiate for us and she kind of mentioned it but then said she didnt think she could do it because she feels she’d ruin it by getting too nervous. We dont have a lot of close friends and the onlyfamily I have here is my mother and step father. I’m not that close with my step father and to me it would e weird. @ Lauren1018- it is the utlimate giving away! Im glad youre able to do that and its very neat, just not for my family…
I’m still looking and have emailed a couple officiants to set up meetings to see how it will go.
Thank for all your help and congratulations to all of you!

You could always ask the hall if they have any regular officiants who perform ceremonies there. Where we are getting married, they had a few officiants that regularly perform the ceremonies there. As for the giving away of the bride, in my wedding, its my grandpa who is giving me away since my father passed away when I was a baby and I have no relationship with either of my ex step-fathers.

I think mayors and judges in the city you are getting married in are allowed to officiate.
