- Wedding: December 2011
I’ve been working for the last 1-2 months on researching cake vendors in the area, and had narrowed it down to 3 places to schedule tastings–one was far and away our favorite contender and had great reviews, and I emailed her to see whether we could set something up. She said yes, sent me a flavor list, and when I emailed back with a list of our flavor preferences and dates we could come in for a tasting, she said…sorry! She hadn’t checked her calendar before her first email and she was already booked for our date 🙁
I was/am crushed! Another place on my list then told me it was too early for me to be thinking about cake, so I pretty much crossed them off. I wanted to say “pay attention to me! I am a potential customer; don’t you want my money?” but I didn’t–I said “thank you; I was only concerned because my first choice vendor was already booked and unavailable, but I will sit on it and possibly get back to you at a later date”
From one extreme to another–heavy sigh. I’m all wound up since we’re in the process of buying a house and I’m not being the most level-headed anyway, but this has been a frustrating week!
Has anyone else been told “it’s too early”? I would think people would be happy to get customers booked in early, especially for slow months like December.
