So I purchased my wedding dress from OnceWed (eek so excited). The lady who I purchased the dress from has been absolutely wonderful. I was so excited to receive my dress.
It was supposed to be delivered on Tuesday.
According to Canada Post, my package arrived to Customs DAMAGED.
I’m starting to freak out a little bit because I don’t know to what extent the damage is. I already have the worst case scenerio in my head, and honestly it sucks, but at this point there’s nothing I can do.
Has anyone had Canadian Customs hold their packages for lengthy amounts of time? I’ve heard it can be up to 30 days (I don’t know how I can contain myself for that long).

FutureMrsHitBee: I had scrapbooking paper held for 3 business days on an AGRICULTURAL hold! Seriously. The paper had names like ‘Cherry Cobbler’, ‘Old Olive’ and ‘Chocolate Chip’ so I guess they thought I was importing food and trying to lie about it (badly).
I’m sure it’s all fine. Maybe the box just got a little squished.

MsGinkgo: Oh my goodness, as awful as it is, that’s pretty hilarious. I’m hoping that’s the case. I contacted the seller about it and by the sounds of things she packed it relatively well. I mean it’s a dress, it’s bendable, so if the box bent it would be fine…hopefully.
It’s been in customs since Monday evening, hopefully it clears soon.

I’m not sure if you called them for the info or viewed the website but I would call them during business hours (like 9:30 AM Monday) and talk to them directly, ask them about the damage while playing the “emotional, worried” card and try and probe as much information as you can. They might be missing information and is waiting for the seller to get back.
I’ve had a few package mishaps with Canada Post (never damage) and when I called them they would actually call the distribution center to track down the package. One time they even transferred me to a person from the main center in my area that informed me she had my package in her hand. Also, if they’ve determined customs at the time I’d see if you could pre-pay via credit card so you have no more delays.
On a side note, if you’re shipping more wedding stuff across the border, use UPS. I love them for cross border shipping – they’re the only company that guarantees 5-day (including customs) across the border!
