Good for you for telling the truth! Thank goodness if my Future Mother-In-Law ever tries to pull that all I am comfortable enough to tell her she is crazy lol

I kinda feel like sometimes they just think “wedding = white and light colors” and don’t really realize that its weird.  My Mother-In-Law really overthought it however, and spent months agonizing over what color to wear to look appropriate (I told her black was fine, since she’s most comfortable in black, but she was terrified people would think she was unhappy about the marriage)

I honestly do not see what the big deal is? Unless she is wearing a bridal gown no one will confuse her with the bride.

This is a photo from the royal wedding- not only is the Bridesmaid or Best Man in white, but the SMIL (Camila) is in ivory/cream and MOB is in a light colour as well. It doesn’t look ridiculous or weird!

@fivemonthsnotice:  i do think its great that you told her!  Obviously it would cause some drama and repressed frustration later on.  Its better to just get it out of the way now so she has time to look for a new outfit!

Lol oh my goodness, I laughed out loud when you told her about the Monster In Law movie. That was awesome. Honestly though, you should be the only one to wear white to the wedding..

@j_jaye:  Yeah, this isnt a big deal.

No one is going to laugh at her. Wearing a floral skirt and nice blouse does not equate to wearing a white lace dress or stealing thunder from the bride. I’m sure that she’ll look appropriate and nice.

Haha, good for you for telling her! A lot of people think that any white in an outfit at a wedding is an attempt to steal the bride’s thunder, and honestly I think that it’s best to avoid it all together.

My mom wore a cream dress.  I honestly think she looked really nice.  She wanted something with a vintage feel to it and it was perfect.  Not a single person made fun of her, quite the contrary, everyone commented on how nice she looked!

It’s annoying because there are about 50 million other colors to chose from. You just don’t wear white to a wedding unless you are Pippa and then you can do whatever the hell you wanna do haha.

I’m surprised about how many people have this issue with their Future Mother-In-Law, Future Sister-In-Law, or mother.
