I’m sure you guys already came across many threads about moissanites but I want to get more of your opinions on your moissanites. My SO and I are considering moissanite because he is in grad school and is tight on budget. I would like to help him for the e-ring since I work but I feel like I would hurt his pride if I do help him out. And when I did a week long research, moissanite is absolutely gorgeous! He asked me to send him some pictures of my ideal e-rings and I decided to send him the moissanite website so he can check it out. He sent me a long paragraph text saying he promises to replace my moissanite with a diamond in the near future and I think that gesture itself makes him my future husband. I have looked at many different moissanites and read reviews and I’m liking it more and more I read about it. So now if i can get your opinions for those beautiful bees who have a moissanite (e-ring, wedding band, earrings, etc.,) So please share how you like your moissanite, why you like it and what might be the flaw of it. Thank you!!!
So glad I don’t have to feel judged to talk about a topic like this, because in a way my friends only want diamonds and it’s hard for me to talk to them about my alternative.
anyways share away please!!!

I have a Moissanite engagement ring:
What I love: How glittery it is (: I love that it’s durable and affordable.
Flaw: At first I really noticed how it was a little warmer in certain lighting, but now (a year later) I don’t notice/mind it at all.

Mine is a 1.25 FB enhancement. It definitely still shows color. A lot of yellow that I see. It is white, just not all the time. If you’re looking for it to look like a diamond, I would not go with moissanite. It’s not a “flaw” to me, but it may be to you.
Other than that, I can’t say there’s one thing wrong about the stone. It’s gorgeous, affordable and earth friendly.

@yewoo0627: Haha, you’re right they are very similar 😉 Dare I say we’re ring twins?
Mine is 1.25ct with the enhancement as well. It’s the ENG161 setting from MoissaniteCo (:

I love my moissy and would never even consider getting a diamond. In fact, I have diamond side stones, and I definitely prefer the sparkle of my moissy (6mm).

I have a moissanite and we started looking at it for the same reasons as you. My Fiance also wanted to replace it with a diamond eventually but once I saw it in person and fell so in love with it, i couldn’t imagine replacing it! If you do think you want to replace it, you might consider looking at Asha which is a kind of CZ that is coated with diamonds and looks much closer to a diamond.
Moissanite is beautiful and soo sparkly. It does have a tendency to look warmer which I think is because it really reflects colors from its surroundings (you can see this a little in my first pic, because my cell phone case Is blue so it shows up in most of my pictures lol). At first, this kind of annoyed me but now I really like it. 🙂
My setting is Eng 144 and my stone is a 1.5ct amora moissanite.

I love my moissanite. It’s unenhanced cushion cut and doesn’t show any yellow/warmth and that was my worry with moissanite. I’ve noticed in regular light it is clear and “normal” looking but in different light it SPARKLES like mad. So you need to decide if you’re okay with that. I absolutely love it. And if you do love it, you may not even want to replace it with a diamond. I told my Fiance I didn’t care what kind of ring he got me as long as he was the one to pick it out for me and I told him about moissanite and how beautiful it is.
I also ADORE the twisted band he chose. Sorry for the upcoming picture marathon! (and these are just phone pictures, can’t wait for the professional ones!)

it definitely looks different from diamond. the colors it reflects and the slight warmth of it and how much sparklier it is. It is very close but there is a difference and many bees think they can tell the difference in real life when they see one.
are you going to be passing it off as a diamond?
don’t get me wrong, i LOVE moissanite, but i have both diamond and moissanite rings and even the enhanced Moissy is still a warmer hue than the diamonds that I have seen.
If you truly want the closest diamond simulant (moissy is not a simulant, it’s a stone in its own right) then go for Asha as that would be the most believable looking.

i LOVE my moissanite. I used to be all about the diamonds, but when I got my moissanite I knew I’d never EVER ‘upgrade’ it. No way. The moissanite is WONDERFUL and to my eye is more beautiful than any diamond I’ve seen.
I love telling people all about it. I’m so proud of mine. And because I prefer it to a diamond, I enjoy boating about it lots. I’ve never had anything but positive reactions to it 🙂

I got a moissanite ring and don’t have any regrets. My Fiance had budgeted for a diamond, so it really just came down to preference. At least for us, there was no added “value” in a diamond. I don’t visually prefer the stone, and I didn’t have any emotional attachment to the idea of getting a diamond. I was looking for something sparkly that I wouldn’t ever need to replace, and moissanite fit the bill perfectly.

I love love love my 1ct moissy. My wedding band is going to be a moiss. Eternity band. I don’t regret it at all, it’s absolutely beautiful and I am so happy with it and proud to show it off!
