So bees, a few weeks ago I filled you all in on my dress fitting from hell. Well after that whole ordeal, I emailed the owner of the salon (her name is Katherine) and did my best to show my displeasure. Katherine told me how sorry she was, fit me in for another appointment to make sure the problems were fixed, and assured me that the evil seamstresses who gave me such a problem last time would not come anywhere near me. It sucked to have to get all bridezilla-y. but if you read how mean to me they were, you’d understand.
WELL BEES, THEY DID IT AGAIN! And this time, I was starting to get PISSED.
When I go back, as soon as I put the dress on my first thought was “Oh my god. I’m going to beat a b*tch down today.” I couldn’t believe it. They didn’t do any of the alterations they were supposed to AGAIN.
If you read my last post, I said that they were supposed to hem it and take it in when I went to the store in MARCH. When I came back in Sept…none of the alterations were made. In their haste to do them for my appointment that I wasn’t leaving, the seamstresses took the dress in way too much at the chest area– essentially causing me to spill out of it (so appropriate for a wedding, dontcha think?). Long story short, they become really mean to me and I have to contact the owner.
Just to be on the safe side, I’ve lost 5 pounds since my last fitting (now at 120! yay!), AND I STILL WAS FALLING OUT OF THE DRESS. It seriously took the lady 10 minutes to try to zip me all the way up, and after that I couldn’t breathe. I come out of the room, and my mom is like “It doesn’t look like they did ANYTHING!” to which I agreed. It was obvious– literally nothing that they said they would do, got done.
Ugh how annoying, you say? Oh well it gets so much more awesome. The b*tchy seamstress from hell comes over (even though the owner promised me they wouldn’t), and says THEY WON’T take it in now. Not because it can’t be done, but because she essentially doesn’t want to. Wow lady, I really am not being a prima donna. I’m not asking for the dress to come with more sparkles, or an added train, or to be encrusted with rare and precious jewels. I’M ASKING FOR IT TO FIT. Yet somehow, I am the a**hole in this equation.
Now bees, I’ve been pretty good natured about all this so far, but that was the final straw. Lady almost made me cry when she told me she wouldn’t do the work she was supposed to 6 months ago (oh and that we already paid for in advance). I know it was just because she didn’t want to, because the owner came up to me and apologized again for the SECOND miscommunication and admitted that they never did the alterations in the first place…she then told me that the seamstress team would take care of it and that she personally would oversee them do it.
So as we’re leaving, that gargoyle of a seamstress comes up to me, throws my paid-off receipt in my face, and says “If you want me to do these, you need to pay me an extra $200”. One of the sales associates steps in and says “She does NOT have to pay more, because of xyz” and they get into a heated argument. Amidst this (very public) argument, it basically comes out that the seamstresses don’t like me and don’t want to do it. It was so embarrassing!
WTF is wrong with this place! Funnily enough, a co-worked told me she also had a horrible experience there, and they made her cry! Anyone else ever been to Katherine’s bridal in Oldtown Alexandria? If so, how was your experience?
