I hate school too!!! And – I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this!!!  I have been doing school and work from 9 am to 1030 pm.  I was sitting here trying to think of a creative way to get the book.  Have you looked at audiobooks and those kinds of things?

Ugh, yeah, online classes are a pain. I’m getting my master’s online and it is definitely different then taking classes when I was in college.

I’m a complete hypocrite for saying this because I am a procrastinator and I’ll wait til the last minute all the time, but you did wait til the last minute to email your prof.

I’ve been taking online classes for about 2 years now and I noticed that online classes seem to be stricter because students can cheat easier than regular classes.  Also, since it’s online and you don’t have the daily interaction like you would in a regular class, that a lot of the online classes are based around communication. Sorry you are going through this.

Finger’s crossed that you won’t actually fail this class because of this essay.

College can be hard, but part of it is to learn responsibility. I have friends who are professors and honestly, imagine if you were a prof – you give your students the ability to make up things with an extra essay and one student waited until HOURS before it’s due to tell you that she can’t find the book. When did you start looking and why didn’t you tell him as soon as you realized it might be difficult? A 1.5hr long trip isn’t that bad anyway, or you could’ve paid amazon for overnight shipping. What book was it anyway? Plus, many college classes base your ENTIRE grade on one final exam, so just move on and make sure you do the best you can on the other assignments. I’m sorry that you’re frustrated, but take this as a learning experience and move on. ((Hug))

Ugh, that is really tough. I’m sorry it all happened that way. It’s easy for some people to say just pay for overnight shipping or drive 3 hours, but that stuff isn’t always feasable. I guess your only other option would have been to contact the prof as soon as you realized you were having trouble finding the book.. but now you know that for next time! Now I’m dying to know, what was the book?? Next time, come talk to us, I bet the bees could figure something out!! πŸ™‚

This won’t help, but since misery loves company, I will let you know I got a D in an online class. It was Communication in the Organization. I don’t want to communicate with my co-workers online when I can just walk over to them and talk. So I thought the class was pointless and didn’t participate in weekly discussions. I then wrote the final paper ripping the class to shreds. The grade might have bumped my GPA up, but it was such a stupid class I didn’t care.

Can you try to contact the head of the department? Sometimes it helps to go over someone’s head. Having gone to three universities, I know.
