So, SO called me this morning to tell me he received a job offer in North Dakota, 1,000’s of miles away from where we live. It’s only for a year or so, but I was immediately devastated that we’d have to once again enter into a LDR. Then he informed me that if he decides to take the job he wants me to go with him, to which I replied I really didn’t want to move in together until we are married ( we aren’t even engaged yet even though we’ve looked at rings, talked about a wedding, etc, even though its been 5 1/2 years lol) becuase of a.) religious beliefs and b.) both our families would not approve of that. So he told me he knows he’s been dragging his feet and doesn’t want to go without me, so we will get married before the move. The clincher? We’d be moving next month.
Oh my God. If he decides to take the job I may be getting married and moving to North Dakota next month! I love him and I’d marry him tomorrow….now I just have to wait to find out what he decides.

Wow that’s pretty crazy. So you are obviously ok with not having a reception and just something really basic. It would have made me upset if Darling Husband would have just assumed a courthouse wedding would have been ok, because he dragged his feet.

Don’t worry, you could still do something nice!

Thanks guys. He’s still undecided, but I told him I would make the move for him. 🙂 I think right now the only downside is he helps out a great deal with his elderly parents (they are really his grandparents but they adopted him when he was a kid). He’s been texting me all morning weighing pros and cons. He has to decide pretty soon.
Yes, I’m ok with a sweet and simple wedding. We would still have our family and close friends there I’m sure.

Good for you!! Fingers crossed. How exciting.
Side note: Where in North Dakota?? I have only been to the Western end of the state (Teddy Roosevelt National Park, etc) but it has this amazing austere beauty that I’d love to explore more.

CharlotteMJ, It’s called Minot. I’ve never heard of it before! We are from a very small community in West Virginia. In fact, we’ve been next door neighbors our entire lives. (Except for when he was sent to work in county a few hours away for a year and a half.)
I still can’t believe all this…he’s undecided on what he wants to do. He’s going to talk it over with his parents tonight and get their input.
Even if he decideds not to take the offer, I’m flattered that he can’t stand the thought of a LDR again and wants to take me with him. 😉 Last time he had to live out of town it wasn’t so bad bc he was only three hrs away and got o come home for 24 hours most weekends. I can’t imagine him leaving for a year and me not being able to see him.

Oh my gosh!!! That’s absolutely insane, lol. But sooo exciting! Okay, we will make this work. What’s your vision for a simple wedding? Do you have a lot of family nearby who would be able to make it to an intimate affair?
