Well the bf has gotten a lot more comfortable with the whole marriage thing and last night after work he decided we needed to GO LOOK AT RINGS! I almost died. I was so nervous. We tried a bunch on, kind of got an idea about what I liked (I already knew what I liked but it was nice to see them on my finger). However I didn’t realize that because I have such tiny hands that a thick band looks ridiculous on me…. although a big diamond does not look ridiculous on me 🙂
He was nervous at the first store with good reason to be… he bought his ex-fiancés ring there and when we walked in and began looking at the engagement rings. Well, a salesman walks up and asks “You do know you are looking at engagement rings, right” and then proceeds to say “You know he’s a repeat offender, he’s been in this section before” OMG! Brad and I were shocked. I mean I know Brad bought a ring there… but I can’t believe the sales guy had the nerve to say that. He then went on and on about how he and that other girl were “in here all the time. They were together for like years.” I was pissed. Brad got nervous. We left and went to a few more stores. Some were helpful (Marks and Morgan) some were not (Helzberg). I think we might go look this weekend at some local jewelers (they close around 5 on weekdays and we don’t get off work until 5).
I’m still shocked that we looked at rings!!! Exciting!
I cant wait til everyone knows about it so I can update my facebook status and write a blog about it… lol

Haha! When Iwas telling my best friend about it she was getting so angry… probably more angry then the bf and I were. She was all ready to write a letter of complaint. 🙂

Ring shopping, how exciting! Oh and I would have been furious! That sales guy had no right to say anything what a jerk!

I had the same exact reaction with my small fingers! thick band looked HORRENDOUS but a big diamond didn’t, which surprised me!
Congrats on taking a big step 🙂

It was also hard to get a real idea of how they would look because all the rings were 2 sizes too big. But we had fun and I ws glad he was ready to take that step. He also got a better idea of what I liked and what he didnt like… lol.
Thanks for the support ladies

OMG for real, I cant believe that guy. I probably would have made a call to his manager asking him to make sure his staff act with more professionalism.
In anycase I’m excited for you. Great news.

Thanks again ladies for all the support. Ask the bf if he had talked to his family about it and he got really weird and told me to stop asking questions because I was going to runi the suprise… I was only asking if his parents were happy about it… but whatevs.
Also the saleswoman at Marks and Morgan had a really interesting idea, to me, for a ring because my hands are small. She said we could buy two 5 stone diamond bands and have them remove the center stone in one of them and add a larger stone and that band could act as the engagement ring. It looked really nice on. I’m not sure if I’m sold on the idea though… just because I LOVE vintage-esque pieces.
The bands kind of looked like this

That’s so exciting for you! And I would totally write the store a letter of complaint and let them know exactly why you were taking your business elsewhere. The guy should give a crap how many rings your Boyfriend or Best Friend buys…it’s giving him commission! He should’ve been falling all over you guys to help you! What a punk.

Thanks ladies for all of the supprt. The guy even started talking about how he stopped getting commission so he could get a higher salary. It was a really awkward experience.
Also, on a different note my bfs sister just called to ask me if I would go shopping with her and her mom while she’s in town (his sister lives a few states away)! They have never asked me to do anything like that before. She went on to say she wanted my opinion on clothes becasue I always look so cute… I am so excited… and really nervous. Wish me luck we are going Saturday!

We went and looked at ring again last night. He even made an appointment to drive 2 hours out of town to go to some kind of ‘ring event’ this week.
However the rings I liked (vintage-y) were iffy looking on my hand… and the rings he liked were so not my style… the bands were to thick the style was kind of modernish. And so trying to just remind him of what I knew I liked and what I knew I didnt without making it seem like I hated his taste was difficult. And like I said half the rings I liked it the case were not so cute on my finger.
Wish me luck
