totally agree with all of you. Just because you are old does not give you a reason to be rude, you want respect you best believe it needs to be earned, no matter what your age. And I agree – if the woman was afraid, she would have stayed in her house, not run out and admonished them after the fact. Looks like she just wanted to cause trouble, and the OP didnt take the bait. She apologized to the person who needed to be apologized to.

@Luayne:  “Fear makes people respond in odd ways” TOTALLY AGREE. However, her bahavior was odd none the less. Because she felt she had the right to yell at a perfect stranger. So she shouldn’t expect to have a normal response. Basically, whatever she was feeling, doesnt make it at all normal to yell at another human being. If she was scared, she should have stayed inside. If she wanted to help, she then should have come outside. This woman seriously took time out of her life to yell at a complete stranger…..scared or not..old or not, she acted like an a-hole.

My three year old dog still occasionally escapes out the front door, regardless of the training I tried to instill in him. There seems to be no certain pattern to it. Other than he rushes past your legs then runs around the car parked in the driveway in endless circles. All you have to do is open the car door and he’ll jump in and he’s ready to go on some sort of imaginary adventure (I assume this is what he is thinking).

Edit:// Just saw pictures of your dog so I thought I would include a picture of mine, he was sold to me as a “Shih Tzu Mix”. He is 30 pounds.

@Mrs_Amanda:  I know right! When we bought him we were told his Mom was a Shih Tzu (we saw a photo of her) and she got loose while in heat. Unsure of the father though. I feel that his Daddy was certainly some sort of Terrier, we were told possibly Boston… but he’s has such a long nose I can’t imagine how.  🙂

@KatyElle:  Hehe, in this picture he is laying on the top of my parents couch like a cat. My dog is a very confused individual.

I personally dislike dogs A LOT…especially when they aren’t on a leash as I have been attacked once by a hyper dog. But he was playing with another dog, so it does seem harmless

Sounds like the lady just had zero tolerance for dogs off leash. Sounds like me. I probably would have told you the same things she did, and asked for your apartment number too so I could report you. I don’t know the details. People just react to what’s in front of them, and since you didn’t bother to explain it was an accident, how is she supposed to assume you’re anything but an irresponsible owner?

@pharmy:  She could have asked before she started yelling.

@pharmy:  I have zero tolerance for random people yelling at me before they know the details.
