Looking through my wedding porn folder!
A couple weeks ago I found my absolute dream ring and saved a picture of it. But of course it was one of those super zoomed in detail shots that are half the size of your screen, and I wanted to see what it looked like in actual size. So I opened it in Photoshop and shrunk it down to match the physical size of a ring I have that fits my ring finger, so I could see an “actual size” photo of it. I saved it in my “w” folder.
Well today I got the urge to “visit” it. I opened Finder in the mode that displays everything as pictures instead of just file names, and I opened the e-ring pic in Preview, so that both programs were open side-by-side. Then I opened Firefox overtop of them so that I could switch quickly in case SO came into the room. (P.S. please tell me I’m not the only one who does these pathetic things haha. This is embarrassing!)
SO came into the room so I switched to Firefox and I checked Facebook, Flickr, etc., for about 30 minutes while he was sitting next to me on the couch. I totally forgot I had my secret “w” folder and e-ring picture open behind it. Well, I quit Firefox just as SO leaned over to fake-creep on what I was doing (which is just a “thing” we do to each other sometimes, don’t ask), and what appears on my screen but my super secret e-ring picture and “w” folder showing all the pictures inside it in glorious detail. Oh my god. I was mortified!
On the plus side, SO didn’t feel weird about it at all. He just laughed it off with me, and hey, I got an excuse to show him my perfect dream engagement ring setting! But still omg, I am still so embarrassed. Has anyone else ever gotten caught looking at “porn”?

@Kant: Haha, that happened to me. Except my folder was called “Wedge”. It actually wound up being a good thing, because it get all the awkwardness out of the way and opened up conversation about the subject. A little embarrassing at the time, though, yeah.

@Kant: Hahaha, no you’re not the only one who does stuff like that. I keep another ‘spare’ window open when I’m on WB and looking at wedding porn, too! And my SO and I ‘fake creep’ on each other, too! AND, he ‘caught’ me on WB the other night, lol! But thank God, I was scrolled down past the giant bride and the screen was just showing the middle of a massive thread I was reading through, lol. Of course the obligatory wedding invites/favors ads were on the right, and he did linger a little bit, but he didn’t say anything, thank goodness. I totally played it off and didn’t act weird or say anything, and neither did he 🙂

@Wonderwoman217: HAHAHA, before SO found out about WB, I would always scroll real quick past the giant bride at the top too. Then one time he fake-creeped on me and there was a certain moissanite drama thread over on the rings board that I was heatedly replying to (I’m sure you could think of the one). He leaned over and asked what I was doing and I said “someone is WRONG ON THE INTERNET, I have to correct them!” but I realized the reply box was right next to the “create your registry” ad with the bride and goom pic on it…and I saw him looking at it questioningly…and I said “YES okay fine it’s a wedding site. You got me” And that’s how he found out about WB.

Woah! I did this too!
I started looking at wedding blogs long before Fiance and I actually started looking at rings or getting engaged….. I just sort of stumbled across a few while I was looking at craft blogs, honestly, and it just went from there (FYI, I get *way* more every-day inspiration from wedding blogs than craft blogs. Isn’t that strange?)
Anyway, mine eventually moved to my bookmarks bar in Safari. The bookmark is titled “WIP” for “Wedding Idea Pages” and even after getting engaged, any time I would find something useful I would bookmark it there.

@Wonderwoman217: I totally do that too. I rarely, rarely, rarely pull up WB while my guy is home but when I do and I sense movement in the house that’s too quick to start shutting windows without looking suspicious, I drag it down past the bride so it looks like just any forum from a distance.

I shared my ring porn proudly! haha…

the only time I ever hid a wedding image BEFORE I got engaged and was caught, was when I was looking at groomsman attire.
His response, “no, I get to chose that!”
Everything else I showed him. We don’t hide stupid things from eachother. ;P

haha… I am not engaged or even close to it.. I just love weddings! My poor boyfriend gets to listen to all my crazy ideas! I just told him that being a wedding planner would be my dream job so he doesn’t have any pressure on him or anything.

This is too funny! But from stories I’ve heard this has actually helped a lot of couples get over any awkwardness of it 😛
I didn’t do this but you’d better believe I had a million wedding files as soon as we were engaged!

When we first moved in, I hid any and everything from SO related to weddings. As time goes on, I get more and more ballsy. I’ll occasionally watch wedding shows on TV when he’s in the room and throw funny shots about him buying me a ring-pop for Xmas, then V-day, and now Easter. I emailed him a pic of my dream ring in Feb, too. We’ve been together now for 4 years and living together for one of them, so it’s time. lol. I think as time goes on, it becomes more of an inherant “right” to put it all out there, especially if you can keep it lighthearted and entertaining. Next month I may try leaving a wedding mag around the house or something…

I love wedding shows, say yes to the dress, my fair wedding, etc. etc. Well only a few months into dating my SO, he is over and checking out my DVR… guess what hundreds of wedding related shows saved. Haha, so embarassing… but it had nothing to do with him, I just loved watching them.. of course now it is all about him! 🙂

@Kant: OHHH I would be so embarrassed!!!!! I would die.
Wow, glad it went ok for you. Sounds like a great “accident” to get things going.

Haha I used to hide that I read wedding blogs but now I don’t care. I didn’t want him to think I was being pushy but now I don’t care!
