So my wedding is in 9 days and I woke up yesterday with a cold sore! Now I marched myself to the Dr and got valtrex and have been using cold sore fx like a crazy woman but I’m so scared it’s not going to be healed by the wedding. I mean, 9 days is NOT a very long time. I’m so bummed.
This is the one thing I didn’t want to happen. Guess it’s better than it happening the day before the wedding right?

It’s great that you’re getting started on it right away!! It’ll be gone for sure!

Get your makeup artist and photographer to team up so there is no evidence whatsoever on your wedding day and in your photos!

I can definitely see how that would be stressful but try and remain calm and laugh it off. I’ve heard stress can lead to these things and rather then getting more worked up, be thankful it’s here now and not a week from now. Plus, it’ll be a funny story in a few years when you tell others about your wedding planning/wedding incidents.
Best of luck at your wedding! It’s getting close! 🙂

Holy crap, this would be one of my biggest wedding fears. Breathe….it’ll likely be gone in 9 days. You can also try taking significant amounts of Lysine. I’ve also used rubbing alcohol to help dry it up as fast as possible. It’ll be okay!!!

Get some Abreva stat!!! It treats the actual cold sore to make it go away quickly.

Do you get cold sores often? It very well might be gone in 9 days if you’re using the medication. I get them quite frequently and I have to be careful not to go too hard on the cream. If I do, it gets super dry and cracks and bleeds which in the long run takes longer to heal. If you don’t get them very often I’d advise holding back on the cream once it starts to dry up. Even if it isn’t completely gone if you have a good make-up artist they can do wonders. 🙂

Fiance gets those too and usually the Valtrex helps in 2-3 days! Good luck! (We’ve joked hes going to have to be on it just in case for a week before the wedding lol

I think I’m going to pick up some lysine in a couple of minutes and go nuts with that to prevent another one from flaring up (which sometimes happens once I have one…the horror).
Cold sore fx is a Canadian version of Abrevia but works at any stage the cold sore is in rather than the first sign. Abrievia only works in the first 24-48 hours I’ve heard.
I’m desperately trying to stay light hearted about the situation to a) avoid another one and b) not completely lose it (financial stress is quite large right now since we’re paying for it ourself). One of my copeing mechanisms…. wedding bee haha.
I think the crappiest thing about this is I keep thing… my first kiss, we can’t have a kiss at the wedding… I just wish I could get that thought to go away since it’s likely to be cleared up by then hopefully

@SimpleGifts: I get them often…sometimes. I had a bad break out around April-May at my maid of honours wedding, which sucked. I got one 4 days before hers and it cleared up by the day, then had a couple of more and have been good since.
Cold Sore Fx doesn’t dry it up thankfully. One of my best friends is also a very talented makeup artist, so hopefully if it’s still there she can fix me

Valtrex always makes my cold sores go away asap. You had to go to the dr for it? I wonder if what I get in the supermarket is a different strength…hmm. Definetly get a new tube of chapstick too!

It will be gone, but I would email your MUA ad tell her you’ve got this going on so she can bring any magic tricks that maybe don’t normally come in her kit.

It will be gone by then- don’t stress!

@BynByn1987: Glad to hear that Cold Sore FX isn’t going to dry it out on you. I get them pretty frequently myself and they are such a pain! My Fiance and I are long distance right now and I’m always worried that I’m going to get a big honking sore right before I go visit. I carry Abreva with me 24/7 for like a week before! Ha! I really hope it clears up for you! 🙂
