I think cap sleeves would look great with that dress. And to echo previous posters- you really look good! That picture is NOT was I was expecting to see based on your title. Good luck!

I think you look great – love the necklace! Remember you’re your own hardest critic.  Guaranteed your friends and family won’t see the problems you do; you should just relax, enjoy yourself, and trust me that you look beautiful.

You look great!  And I love your statement necklace-whether bought from Etsy or DIY!  I think that addition would look lovely.  You are beautiful.  Sorry about the illnesses in your families.  Best Wishes for a happy wedding day and a long and happy and healthy marriage.

I also think you are being too hard on yourself, but I know it’s a tough situation!  I agree with not doing anything drastic like adding sleeves or straps until the dress is properly fit.  You could try some of the ideas mentioned above that are easy to try and not permanent (i.e. crinoline, contrasting colored sash to match the bridesmaid dresses, some support up-top to bring the ladies in a little, statement necklace).  I think you’ll probably find one of those things makes enough of a difference to you.  Also, if I were you, I would do my hair similar to how I will wear it for the wedding when I go to the next fitting – that way you’ll get a better idea of your look for the day.  I think it’ll end up great and not like a root beer barrel at all!!

Gosh, I think you look fabulous! I think the biggest problem is the bust area and it’s not YOUR girls, but the fact that the pleating is not laying right.  It looks too big there.  Also, check to make sure that it’s all tacked down.  Sometimes those pleats/ruching can be made to lie flatter with a ilttle work.  I also agree with the petticoat comment.  You probably can’t go too voluminous, because your hemline doesn’t look too long.  But you would be amazed at how making the skirt more flared at the hemline will balance everything out.  Stunning dress and you are gorgeous!!!!!  It just needs some tweaks for your body type!

I’ve been trying not to Weddingbee, but I have to comment on this, lol.  Your thread title is cracking me up!

You look beautiful, and you need a statement necklace to frame the look.  Get something big and blingy (or pearly), and sweetheart the neckline.  Boom. Gorg.

Especially now that you’ve said you weren’t even wearing a bra, I definitely wouldn’t change anything! The proper undergarments and alterations will make all the difference in the world. Great job on the weight loss :). I lived for 17 years in the UP of Michigan and the upside is that I don’t look my age either (I’m 38). At least there are some perks to 8 months of winter!

I’m sorry to hear that things have been so rough for you right now! I hope you can put it all aside for at least one day and celebrate all that you do have. Seriously, once your dress fits you correctly with your new body it’s going to look amazing. Have a drink and enjoy your day and have some fun jewelry shopping Smile.

The problem is the dress in the photo does not fit you, so it pooches at the bust.  Once altered to fit you, you will love it!  I think it will look great with the necklace. You look great now.  Remember shoulders back and hold your arms slightly out from you.  You should add/do whatever you feel most comfortable in wearing.  Just my opinion: I  tend to think halters and cap-sleeved boleros make a woman look bigger than she is :/ With halters, you tend to get that smooshed boob/uber short torso look if you’re rather large busted since most tend to tie it too high to avoid showing too much cleavage! And cap sleeves are known to make your arms look larger!

I 100% agree with the petticoat to help balance you out.  I think a sweetheart neckline is a great alternative if you’re still feeling uncomfortable, although not necessary if you wear the necklace

@Christine4RN:  I think you look great! It looks like the picture is being taken from below, the worst angle this will make everyone look bigger!

I agree with adding a bra and maybe even some crinoline to help poof out the bottom more, it will make a huge difference! I also think you are safe with necklace given the simplicity of the gown. It will add more texture 🙂

Congrats on your weightloss! I purchased a dress in November and when I went for my fitting last week, I had to drop a size and lost less weight than you did!
