LOL your sense of humor is fantastic!Yeah, the Vag doctor is one of the more awkward experiences in life. The more you go , the better it gets! Def find a more cheery practice 😉

@miz fizzix: Wow, my OB/GYN talks while she swipes so much that I don’t notice it. She’s also super gentle too. About two years ago, I switched to her practice on a friend’s recommendation because I wasn’t liking my doctor at the time. If you don’t like your OB/GYN, get recommendations from friends, and switch. It was the best thing I did for myself. When it comes down to it, it’s about your health. Don’t waste time not being listened to, etc.

@miz fizzix: Definitely cozy up to the new coworkers for their recommendations. I got my eye doctor on a now retired coworker’s recommendation. I love my eye doctor, even though I’ve hated how many dilations I’ve had with two retinal tears in the past. Either way, I wouldn’t go to anyone else. Don’t be afraid to ask for recommendations/referrals.

I’m 36 and have seen a lot of OBGYN’s in my day (lots of girl issues)…. anyway – I’m not sure why, but all the male doctors I’ve seen have been so much more pleasant than the women ones (from a pain/comfortable standpoint)…. random, I know.

But, good for you for biting the bullet and going!  Now that you know what to expect, next time (and the times after) will be a piece of cake!

@miz fizzix: I have been going for over 10 years and it still gets me nervous.  I just had my annual check up on Monday though so now i have a whole year until my next visit.

The doc that i LOVE left the practice and last year I went to a new doc and HATED her – so impersonal.  I found my old doc at a new practice and saw her again this week- it was soooo much better, she knows how to distract me while giving the exam!  Its definitely important to have a good doctor that you like!

@miz fizzix: I think tour guide beats my old cheerleader gyno. She hugged me at the end of my exam last year. My current one is at least less hyper.

I still remember the first time I went, my doctor had a nurse stay in the room and she told me all about her first trip and how it was at a walk in clinc and the whole time I kept thinking, this would be much less awkward if you were not yapping on. I think I like impersonal, just get in, get it done and let me get dressed, thankyouverymuch. Although my current doctor who I have to go see next week is very rude so I would like someone more warmer than her,

OMG I love my gyno so much!  The exam is never pleasant, but she’s so funny!  2 years ago I was in for my exam, and she cracked me up so hard the speculum shot out and clanged to the ground!  She didn’t even miss a beat… turned to the chart, pretended to write, and said “pelvic muscle tone:  excellent”.  Then she got me a new speculum 😛

@miz fizzix: Hahaha, pretty much. I mean, she’s only a couple years older than me but still. Think Daisy from Bones. I am not that sort of person so it was kind of scary

My gyno is a great looking gay man in his late 30s. I didn’t know that he was gay until after my first visit…one of my friends was the receptionist there, so when I was telling her that having some cute guy get in your pants without buying you dinner first was absolutely terrifying, she just laughed. I felt like an idiot.
