My bf is maybe a week past you, and she is having the same issue! She’s not as small as you though so it really does depend on the person. She says she’s really not maternity size yet but she’s SO uncomfortable in her clothes. She’s also already trying to hide a bump!

I switched to maternity pants about the time you did and I’m happy that I’m not squishing the bean anymore. LOL It was getting really uncomfortable for both of us. I’m 5’3″ and I definitely showed early.

Which brand of maternity jeans are you wearing? I think that makes a huge difference. I bought all mine at GAP and I’ve gotten compliments on them from people who don’t know that I’m PG. I tried on some from other brands (e.g. H&M) and they didn’t fit nearly as well. I also wear a belly band with my jeans since they’re running a bit loose without the added support.

@Mrs.Maeby:  I think that’s the problem. I have two styles of GAP jeans, one with the super soft stretchy panel that covers the whole belly and the other one is the shorter, but firmer, band. The soft stretchy band definitely accentuates the bump more than the stiffer one. That said, I think the belly band will help since it’ll hold/shape your belly area and do what the stretchy panel is not doing.

Since you’re looking for a budget-friendly option, I would check out Target for the belly bands. They come in three colors – white, nude, and black – and are about $16 or $17 each. You can try them out and return them if they don’t work for you. I haven’t tried the pricier ones but the Target ones seem to work fine.

Lol

I work in maternity I see woman at 5wks buying pants. Also beware of target brand belly tubes they dont wash that well. Just remember you’re not squishing baby. That “bump” is mostly bloat, won’t be baby for a while. Congrats!

@MsSparklyBee:  That’s interesting to know. I haven’t washed mine that often and I usually run it on delicate anyway. Which ones do you recommend?

OP: Sorry for possibly thread-jacking. 🙂

@Mrs.Maeby:  I’m right behind you! 7 weeks 1 day and I can’t wear my jeans!! I was thinking about going to look at maternity options but I didn’t think I anything out there would fit yet. Maybe I just need to go look. I get really nauseous if my pants are too tight so I’m wearing pj pants or yoga pants. I was thinking about one of those belly bands but I wasnt sure if it would really work, but I guess I can always return if it doesn’t work!

I was in all maternity clothes all the time as a petite 5’2″ person at 6 weeks, since all of my slim cut pants didn’t fit within a hot minute of my getting a BFP! Don’t feel bad! You’re not alone!

@Mrs.Maeby:  I’m using hair ties and ribbons to keep my work pants done up at 7 weeks. I’m off to buy some big Mumma pants this weekend lol
