Earlier today I was trying to take a picture of my ring and noticed that my center stone kept showing up hazy in the pics and I thought it was just my phone not focusing. Then I realized that it had a gross thick layer of hairspray coating it lol so I cleaned it off and took another pic, sure enough it was clear!

So I didn’t know you were supposed to clean rings, and never cleaned my grandmother’s ring. After I got engaged and joined the Bee and found out that rings and such need to be cleaned, I noticed that there was literally green gunk on the under carriage. It was so gross! I went ahead and cleaned it along with my engagement ring, and I couldn’t believe the difference! All I did was soak in hot water, and then scrub it with dish soap and a soft toothbrush. I didn’t have a recent before pic, but this one was taken around October of last year:

This is what it looked like right after I cleaned it!

And just for the hell of it, here’s a before and after of my engagement ring. I took the before photo earlier in the day, and I just took this after photo. I cleaned it about 10 minutes ago!

I didn’t clean my ring for over 6 months after I first got it — I didn’t know I was supposed to. I have a white sapphire and it was extremely dirty/cloudy πŸ™ Now I clean my ring ~2x/week and it’s clear and sparkly.

Sad before cleaning pic:

And now!

stephaniekate9210 :  Same omg. I used to bite my nails, so I bought some of those glue on nails to try to hide my really horrible nails πŸ˜‚ But the upside is that my actual nails are growing underneath and I’m breaking a terrible habit. Yay for progress!

I noticed my ring was super cloudy when I was taking a picture for another thread earlier today.

So I gave it a scrubbing. It still needs a good steaming but it’s much improved over this morning!

When u have an intricate setting u can use 3% h202 and watch allthe bubbles- it really gets in the nooks and crannies and makes the ring sparkle!
