Where in Ohio are you, if you don’t mind me asking?

If you’re in Southwest Ohio, check out The Bonbonerie in Cincinnati/Reading area. They have free tastings (you have to schedule them though, no drop-ins) and their cakes are deeeelicious. That’s who we’re going with. You can always scout out a few online and call to ask about their tasting fees, etc.

@Gemstone:  +1

I know some good places in the Toledo area, but that’s not really helpful if you’re in Cleveland or Cinci.

If you are in Columbus we are using Sauer Cakes, Michelle is awesome and for our 3 tier, cake with 3 different flavors and fillings it is only $450!! Thats a steal compared to the other places we looked at. The cake tasting was fun and yummy and she loved the design that Fiance and I drew up together! 🙂 I cant wait to see the final product!!

I’m in the Cincinnati area too. Can provide recommendations if you’re nearby.

And hey, great job ladies. Looks like we have a lot of the major cities/surrounding areas covered!

We used Anita Kline in Hilliard.  She does beautiful work for very reasonable prices.  And her cake is the most delicious that we tried!  We had a 4-tier cake with sugar flowers and 3 flavor/filling combinations for $380.

We did a dessert buffet, but we got cheesecakes from Sweetheart USA (Northfield). Their cheesecakes are soooo good. I’ve also had a few of their cakes at Aladdins (they’re Aladdin’s supplier), and I remember them being yummy, but I can’t recommend their decorating skills on wedding cakes, as I don’t have any experience there. I do know that they were really flexible, and the baker I spoke to was super friendly & helpful.

ETA: I would *not* recommend White Flower Cake Shoppe in Beachwood. They have beautiful cakes & they taste delicious (I’m pretty sure they’ve been featured on a few baking shows), but my sister had a terrible time working with them. They kept changing the quote & pulling all these shananigans with her, she was really upset, and she spent a fortune.

We are looking at

Bonbonerie

Servatii (very popular in Cincinnati, limited tasting times though, have to call for times)

Busken (they only do small cakes and then a large sheet cake)

Fiance is voting for Servatii and I think we’ll end up with them. We’re kind of obsessed with them anyway. But I don’t think you could do wrong with any of these three. They all know weddings and their stuff is incredible. Every Saturday morning we do donughts/pastries from one of these places for breakfast!
