I agree that what this company is doing is completely wrong and they need tobe stopped, but I did want to throw this out there – Don’t we all need to be responsible for our own actions?  If someone told me to go on a 530 calorie diet, I’d tell them to shove off.  It does not take a ton of medical or diet related knowledge to know that eating that many calories is not a healthy way to lose weight.

Thhat’s downright AWFUL! There’s just so much pressure on us heavier girls to lose weight ESPECIALLY for a wedding … I can understand how easy it might be to think these things are safe …

I agree with pvaulter – the company should be shut down, for sure, but companies like this wouldn’t be able to stay in business if people would be smart about their decisions. You would have to know that 530 calories a day is not healthy – you would seriously have to. I think the saddest part is that brides feel this pressure to be thin on their wedding day. We all should strive to be healthy everyday, not just thin for special days. I am so sad for this woman, her family, and her fiance. 🙁

That’s dreadful and how awful for her family and Fiance. Why was there so much pressure on her to lose weight before the wedding? And so much too? She must have been so determined to do that… Oh this is so sad.

That’s horrible! No one can survive off 530 calories a day, and the fact that it’s only for obese people is even worse!

While I agree blame should be placed on the company, I think everyone should be held accountability for their actions or lack thereof.  It’s more shocking to me that her GP allowed this to take place.  Regardless, what a horrible story.

OMG – I can barely make it some days on 1200 calories…I cannot imagine what 530 calories would be like.  Or how anyone could not think to themselves that something might be wrong with a company that would propose a diet like that.
