So I thought I would share this with you bees since I have been struggling for years with extremely oily skin, blackheads and problem areas. I have never had true acne but when I get a pimple it lasts for weeks and I hate covering it with makeup since it makes the problem worse. I recently on, my second favorite site, pintrest pinned a blog about a girl cleansing with oil. To be precise castor oil (yes normally used as a laxative) and olive oil she claimed that because you skin naturally produces oil that by washing your face with oil free products you are taking away oil from your face therefore your body tells your skin it needs to produce more oil. I had my ah-ha moment so I figured I’d bite the bullet and give it a try. I searched the internet some say you have to use castor oil that has been cold pressed some say you don’t. They were a ratio for normal skin, dry skin and oily skin.
What I decided to use was castor oil (not cold pressed but the laxative version) I decided to try the laxative version because there were mixed reviews. The cold pressed was hard to find and cost double the laxative version. IMO the laxative version should be just as efficient as the cold pressed since the castor oil is being added as a natural anti-inflammatory the laxative version should work for that purpose. I used grapeseed oil because it was the oil I had on hand. Do not use canola oil or vegetable oil those are not good for the skin and can clog the pores. I used 1 cap of the castor to every three to my grapeseed. I pull my hair back and rub the oil all over my face avoiding the eyes and rub well in areas I have problems (i.e. Blackheads, Oily Skin and pimples.) Then I placed a damp towel in the microwave and heated it up once it was nice a steamy I placed it on my face for a minute or until the towel cooled then wiped the oil off my face with the towel. I finish with witch hazel for toner and a moisturizer. I do this at night and then splash cold water on my face in the morning.
Results, it has only been two days, but the blackhead are almost gone and my pimple is starting to heal (if you know my face it is a miracle). My skin on my forehead which is normally crazy oily due to my bangs is 50% better. I am thoroughly surprised and super happy with the results. I understand everyone’s face is different I am not saying this will work for everyone but I wanted to give you bees my opinion on the oil cleanse.
