This is a health trend I’ve recently been aware of, it’s supposed to help the overall health of your body as well as help detox using your body’s natural methods of doing so. It sounds a tad far fetched but I realized it’s not too horrible or expensive and I’ve tried it for two days now. Basically you swish around with processed natural oils, olive, coconut, etc in your mouth for 10-20 minutes and spit out. So far it seems to have made a difference in how clean my teeth are, so far it’s really great for dissolving plaque and making my mouth feel fresher all day long. We’ll see if it has any long term benefits though!

@SimplyChic11: I just came across your post, and wanted to see if you’re still oil pulling. Have you noticed any benefits? I just started yesterday…

@judybot: What oil are you using? I’ve always wanted to do this but I get nervoust that I’ll swallow some of the “toxic” oil. Have you found it easy to do?

@maplemag: I tried out sesame oil last night, and woke up incredibly snotty this morning. From what I’ve read, that’s a good thing…haha. This morning before my coffee, I tried coconut oil. I thought I was going to vomit, but once it melted I was fine. Mouth started getting a little full near the end of 15 minutes, but I just spit a little out and kept on going. Sesame oil was easier for me, and I prefer the taste over coconut oil.
No noticeable changes yet, but I like the idea of doing this to replace mouth wash. If you decide to try it, let me know how it goes! I’m really interested in hearing about other people’s experiences with this.

@judybot: That’s so funny, I imagine I would feel the exact opposite way regarding the oils! I love coco oil but can’t stand sesame! Please keep me updated as well! I’m so glad to hear someone’s personal experience with it, not just some rando on a health message board!
Will ask my naturopathic doc next time I see her if she think it’s a good idea to incorporate into my health care plan.
