Ok so i went to
oliviakatherine: Ok so i went to our local beuaty supply store the other day to find out what the makeup artist said. I ended up getting the new NYX Wet & Dry powder foundation, Primer & set spray and the finishing powder.
She told me to clean my face every night but to moisturize every other night. When i get ready for makeup, she said:
1) Spray a few spritz of Primer and setting spray on my face, then put a little bit of finishing powder on my face. Then apply Foundation Wet OR Dry.
2) Then apply my powder, and spray a little bit more setting spray on, and GO.
I just bought all this stuff this week so I will be trying this all tonight for the first time since we are going out. I guess we will see how it goes!

I can relate!! I have very oily skin and had bad acne as a teenager that still shows up every now and then. It’s been really frustrating because I feel like I need moderate coverage, but no makeup ever stays on. I’ve tried every primer and every finishing powder/spray under the sun, but by lunchtime, my makeup is melting off my face. When I come home at night, it looks like I have nothing on, and my face looks greasy and gross.
I’ve been doing some research recently because I want to start a better and less expensive beauty routine. For the past 8 months or so, I’d been using BareSkin by Bare Minerals, which had great coverage but looked terrible on my skin if you looked close up, and it also didn’t stay put for long enough. My face was still getting shiny.
I was surprised to see a lot of people recommended to A) moisturize (I always thought I shouldn’t do that since my face was already “moisturized” by all the oil!) and B) stop washing my face! So for the past two weeks, I’ve washed my face with the Bare Escentuals cleanser at night only, then use some Proactiv or Neutrogena moisturizer. In the morning, I put on my dermatologist prescribed face cream, and then Garnier Oil Control BB cream and Bare Minerals Mineral Veil. I can honestly say my skin has never looked better. The coverage is just as good as the expensive foundations at Sephora. Plus, I LOVE feeling like I’m just putting on a face cream instead of caking my face up with makeup. I did not buy the one with salycilic acid in it for acne treatment, but I may try that when I run out of this. My skin does need to be blotted once or twice during the work day, but this stuff stays ON.
Your makeup artist’s tricks are new to me, I may try that as well!
